IIs a CDF account the same as a share dealing account

Recommended Posts

Hi all,  I have an active spread betting account with IG.  I now what to transfer my ISA to a new IG share trading account .  When I try to add another account from the "my ig" page I get a choice of MT4, CFD etc but no share dealing account.  So my question is ......is a CDF account the same as a share dealing account that I can use to trade my ISA funds with?

hi, no they are different account types, sb, cfd and mt4 accounts are all leveraged whereas share dealing accounts are non-leveraged. you will need to go through the application process for a non-leveraged account but it is far less stringent than applying for a leveraged account.

Thanks for the info.  But I have tried now 4 times and each time I try to its says Imy email is already in use with (and it is with my SB account) and to log in to "my ig" and add an account but in my add account section I do not have a share dealing option?  So round in circles I go

ok, if you are in the UK and are not using a European account type this is what you should see when you click 'add an account' from your 'My IG' dashboard.

I'm from the UK.  And when I go to add a new account I do not have the ISA, share dealing, IG smart or SIPP options but I do have the others.  Looks like I need to ring them do you know the best number by any chance to arrive at the right department.  Thanks for all the help you have been so far, its appreciated!

Why would you want to lose the tax benefits of an ISA by changing to a share account. You can still trade the same shares in your ISA. Or have I misunderstood what you are tryin to do

you're welcome, by the sounds of it the phone helplines have been jammed for days now because of the extraordinary market conditions so I suspect you might be better off with a email.

NO.  I intend to trade my ISA monies via the share dealing account so keep my tax free status.

    • That's true & I believe it's gonna move a reasonable percentage up in price should the bull market surfaces. I can't wait for that to happen to pf at Bitget & others as well.

    • I'm very impressed with the way DOGE triumphed in the market over the years. Could CATE replicate that? Btw, will invest with some bucks that I'm willing to sacrifice.
