Recommended Posts

How can i check the margin required to open a Forex position for example eur/usd in MT4 before opening the position?

Also, How can I see what is the margin used individually for open existing trades in MT4 in the terminal window it only shows the full margin used.

Hi, see this video, also note the information is also accessible when using the IG mini terminal.

I have gone through the complete video. Thankyou for replying however I am not able to see the margin required anywhere for individual positions before i open them. I am using IG trade terminal app addon as well but still same if you don't mind can you share a screen shot of how it shows. I don't know what I am missing. Also if you can share with me the formula through which margin is calculated. My Mt4 shows for gbp usd position on demo 0.01 lot size margin is 0.65 only which does not make sense since 0.01 is 1000 units which 2% margin should be $20.

yes that's correct, the mt4 doesn't calc margin before the trade is opened as does the web based platform but once the trade has been opened will tell you how much margin is in use and how much free margin is left to use. This should be on the mt4 account data and is on the mini terminal in maxi mode, not sure about the trade terminal app.

The UK margin calc page is here;

Hi, yes those figures don't look right at all, compare them to those in the video though he uses an Oz account with 200:1 leverage. I don't use the demo platform and don't have a trade running, I don't usually check anyway as I am usually well within the margin requirement.

    • Hi, I'm fairly new to the community and I've started out looking into stocks I'm familiar with. One of these is Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON: SLA). In the screenshot below you can a general (albeitvery gradual) uptrend on the Daily chart since late-March 2020 which I've highlighted in Green. However, since mid-February 2021 there has been an intra-trend move downwards (highlighted in Red) and these points look set to cross in the coming days. Daily Chart Thoughts My natural bias is towards being bullish on this stock. But I'm waiting to see how the shareprice behaves over the next week. So I'm interested to see what other think on this stock and if there are other factors you think are important to consider?   Have a good weekend anyway folks.
    • process check , mike check , paycheque..... I actually missed this move ... 😅 .... Very hard trying to juggle a 50plus hour week and trading ..... any way here is the follow up from my post on the FTSE from  11-05-2021👇     With the greatest respect to IG INDEX , it's not time to be bearish .... not yet at least..... Here is what the FTSE did a few days later.........
    • Yeah........ so that happened ...
