Is there a way of some sort to change the background colour from white to black on the charts?

There is on the PRT charts. Go to the bottom right corner of the chart, click on the 4th icon in from the right. The one with the two candlesticks and the spanner. The resulting dialogue box gives you the options to change the colour of the background as well as other chart settings.
