Account Application denied but...

Question

Hello IG,

I tried applying for a CFD Live account and got this:

image.png.d8102d03ded49210c1195d4e9d5a8e6b.png

I do have the means to deposit at least the minimum amount of $5000 as I am currently employed and I do have other savings and investments to cover it. I'm confused about the income if it is monthly or yearly rate. I also enrolled in a course that teaches me how to trade CFDs though this course does not have a certification so I'm not sure if it is included in the formal CFD courses. I also sent an email to helpdesk.en@ig.com and have not heard from them yet. I did pass the knowledge questionnaires however this was after submitting my application, I didn't know where I can find the questionnaires beforehand.

Is it possible for me to review my application? Or what will be needed from me to prove that I am capable of handling a Live account? Or how long will it take for me to re-apply again for a Live account?

Thanks,

Thanks for your post.

Unless your earnings or savings change we will not be able to open the account. Our compliance team have barriers of earnings and savings in place that don't change. If your earnings or savings change please let us know as we can update your application. Please note, we may ask for proof of the financial change.

With regards to the minimum deposit amount, that has recently increased but if does get reviewed. I've passed on the feedback regarding how high it is.

All the best

    • Hi all. I have a chunk of cash sitting around and don't really want to allocate it to equities or anything too risky so I was hoping to pick up some regular coupons from something like non-junk bond. I've tried to find bonds on my ISA or Share Dealing account but they don't really seem to exist. I can't find bonds nor ETFs of bonds...  Also can someone help me to understand - like I don't want to bet on the value of bonds or rates going up. I only care about dumping cash in bonds and receiving regular coupons. I understand that the prices of bonds go up and down and therefore you may make a gain/loss on your principal if you sell before maturity, but I kinda want a low-risk bond and want to hold it to maturity. Or at least something that has that kind of risk-reward profile.
