  1. CharlotteIG's post in Stop Loss Minimum Distance was marked as the answer
    Hey all,
The minimum stop distance is variable and can change. This is due to volatility in the market and our risk teams analysis. We constantly assess the market and adjust minimum distances accordingly.
With normal stops we put minimum distances in place which we find appropriate for the volatility. If you're trading on a volatile market and put a stop 5pts away you will likely be closed very fast, We don't want traders wasting their money being closed our due to volatility.
With regards to guaranteed stops we assess them based on volatility but IG are taking on risk when traders open these as we have to take on the loss if the market gaps through the stop.
If you have any other questions about this please let me know

  3. CharlotteIG's post in Dividend Payments was marked as the answer
    Hey James,
If this is your share dealing/ ISA account and you've held shares through an ex div date, even if you sell the shares before the pay date you will receive the dividend.
    I hope this helps.

  4. CharlotteIG's post in Why does some stock price divide by 100? was marked as the answer
Hey Hin, thanks for your first post.
In the underlying market UK and South African shares trade in pence.
For example, when Easy Jet displays a price of 920, their share price is at £9.20.
US shares and all others trade in dollars. So if Tesla's display price is 680, it's trading at $680.

However, on Spread betting when you trade £1 per point it's equivalent to:
Easy Jet, £1 per point is equivalent to 100 shares
Tesla, $1 per point is equivalent to 100 shares.
If you were trading £1 per point it would be equivalent to trading 100 shares x GBPUSD exchange rate.

If you need clarification on anything else or have any other questions let me know. Either quote my response or sent me a notification by putting @CharlotteIG

  6. CharlotteIG's post in Withdraw help was marked as the answer
    I hope you're well.
With share dealing and ISA accounts please know the settlement period works on a T+2 (T+3 for US shares) basis. This means the cash for these shares won't settle on your account the day you sold them but two (3 for US) working days. I hope this clarifies why you can't withdraw your funds at the moment.
Also, if you have a working order this will take funds from your available balance.
If it's been longer than that period of time since the last time you sold stock I would advise emailing us at helpdesk.uk@ig.com so someone can investigate it for you.
    All the best.
  7. CharlotteIG's post in Are the credentials the same for the client portal and the mt4 login ? was marked as the answer
    Hey Peter,
    Thanks for your post.
Your IG and MT4 details are different. When you opened your MT4 account you should have received two emails. One providing your username and the other providing your password.
If you're having difficulty finding these please email us at helpdesk.uk@ig.com. Explain that you need your MT4 username and a MT4 password reset link. For us to send out this information we will require answers to 4/6 questions below:
    1. Name and date of birth
    2. Registered address
    3. Registered phone number
    4. Last 4 digits of a card you have used to fund the account
    5. Last market you traded
    6. Balance on your account.

Please do not respond to this post with answers to these questions.
I hope this helps and if you need anything else let me know
    All the best,
    Charlotte
  8. CharlotteIG's post in Stock ISA was marked as the answer
    Hey @ramblers926,
The platforms are similar however there are differences.

You can have a price from the market maker, a limit order, a stop order or a market order.
If you pick a limit, stop or market order you can choose the expiration date:

We don't have a demo for an ISA account as it's too hard to replicate in a demo environment. You can open a live non-leveraged account though with no obligation to fund if you want to see the features.

With ISAs we have a £24 quarterly fee. If you trade any commission you pay will be deducted from the fee. ( if you were to only to place one trade commission £10 the quarterly fee would be (24-10= £12)).
You can find the full list of fees here: https://www.ig.com/uk/investments/share-dealing/costs-fees

  12. CharlotteIG's post in Adding session times onto the chart was marked as the answer
    Hey,
We're looking to potentially add a clock showing the openings/ closing times of the share exchanges. I will also put this idea forward to our team and see which they prefer.

  13. CharlotteIG's post in Add WISH and RBLX IPO was marked as the answer
I've spoken to the team and unfortunately they're not grey markets we're looking to offer due to their size.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
  14. CharlotteIG's post in 1k demo account was marked as the answer
    Hey,
Unfortunately the amount is set at 10K. What some people do is open and close really large positions to try and lose as much as they can then round it back up to 1K.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
  15. CharlotteIG's post in OCO Orders was marked as the answer
    Hey both,
This isn't something we're planning to add to the platform but I will suggest it to our team and see if it's something to be added in the future.

  16. CharlotteIG's post in Aston Martin automatically Sold/Bought was marked as the answer
    Hey,
    Thanks for your first post.
We don't inform clients of stock consolidations/ splits because the outcome is the same. The stock will be consolidated and by the same about the price will be adjusted.
However, we've had some other community members asking about this so I will pass the feedback on that in the future can it be possible to send an email about stock splits/ consolidations.
    Details of the stock consolidation:
Please be informed that Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC will be having a Consolidation/Reverse stock split event on Monday 14/12/2020 at terms 1 for 20. As a result we will be doing all the necessary bookings pre market on the 14/12 for Leveraged and Non Leveraged accounts. All stops and limits will be amended accordingly and Working Orders deleted pre market as well.

  17. CharlotteIG's post in I can't find a stock was marked as the answer
    Hey Sue,
These two run on OTCMarkets and the Canadian exchange. We can't offer these exchanges on our nonleveraged accounts (share dealing) and the market cap is too small to offer on leveraged.
If you would like it on leverage let me know and I can see if the share desk can make an exception.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
  18. CharlotteIG's post in Order Rejected was marked as the answer
    With US stocks make sure:
You have the ' Dealing US shares form filled out' which can be found on the MyIG page by selecting Settings> Dealing US stocks.
You will also see (as mentioned above) that some US stocks have 'All sessions' trading meaning you can trade in the pre and post market whereas others do not. The normal US trading hours in UK time is 13:30-21:00 UK time. Please note this can change when the clocks change and when there are bank holidays.

    Thanks for your post @iLondoner,
You will be able to have limited power of attorney if you wish. That means you can view and trade on your wifes account.
You can find the form by following the link below. Make sure you fill out the power of attorney form, not the joint one. Also, makes sure it's the CFD and share dealing form.

  22. CharlotteIG's post in Unable to purchase European shares was marked as the answer
    Thanks for your post.
We don't offer shares that trade on the Canadian exchanges for share dealing.
We do off it on leveraged but due to lack of borrow in the market it's currently unborrowable so you cannot short but can buy:

  23. CharlotteIG's post in What will the cost be of holding Lloys share via a spread better over a period of 6 months? was marked as the answer
    Thanks for your post.
If you're trading on a spread betting account you have have two ways to trade Lloyds. The cash and the forward

With the cash you have a tighter spread but you're subject to overnight funding each night. With the forward contract you have a larger spread but there is an expiry date. If you wish to hold the position after the expiry date you will have to make sure your rolling instructions are enabled so the contract will roll into the next forward contract.
As you can see we currently have three forward contracts for Lloyds.

You can find the expiry dates on the get info section. From there you can select the time frame you think is best for you:

    I hope this helps.
