Cannot Transfer funds between CFD and Share Dealing Account

Guest Sam Singleton

Question

Guest Sam Singleton

I just sold a bunch of stocks on my share dealing account in order to then transfer those funds into my CFD account. Under "available to deal" it says £487 (the correct amount received after selling those stocks).

However, when I go to transfer funds, on "available balances", share dealing is marked as £0 and consequently I cannot transfer my "available to deal"/free funds from my share dealing account into my CFD.

I have waited about an hour since selling the stocks. Does anyone know why this is happening? Do I just need to wait? I do not see why waiting would help as the stocks have been sold and it appears that the money has been credited in my account.

Thanks,

Sam

Thanks for your post.

Please know the settlement period works on a T+2 (T+3 for US shares) basis. This means the cash for these shares won't settle on your account the day you sold them but two (3 for US) working days.

Many thanks for your understanding. I hope this clarifies why you can't withdraw your funds at the moment.

    • A late rally in the US has put some fight back into equities, pointing to a positive open for European stocks after an indecisive session yesterday. Jerome Powell reiterated the need for more rate hikes, without walking back any of his comments on disinflation at last week's Fed meeting, leaving the dollar a touch weaker. After the hurly-burly of last week's action-packed sessions, this week is quiet by comparison, with little major data out today aside from weekly crude oil inventories, plus earnings from Disney and Uber.
