Setting stops at price point

ryanair737

Question

Hi, hoping someone can help me with a quick question.

I'm using the IG platform and trying to set stops based on a specific price point, rather than points away. I'm pretty sure I've seen it on the platform somewhere but can't find the option now. I know once I place the deal I can then change it on the chart window but trying to do it from the opening if possible.

I've had a look around and can't seem to find the answer online so sorry if this has been answered already.

Thanks!

Hi @ryanair737, on the deal ticket you can change your stop and limit to AUD loss ans AUD profit by clicking on the small arrow down next to 'pts away':

I hope that it helps you.

    • This analysis provides insights into the Elliott Wave patterns observed in major NASDAQ stocks, including the NASDAQ 100, S&P 500, and key companies like Apple (AAPL), Tesla (TSLA), Amazon (AMZN), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Meta Platforms (META), Netflix (NFLX), and Alphabet (GOOGL). Currently, we assess that the Wave (4) low may have been established across these indices, signaling a potential shift to a "Risk On" stance. This scenario suggests that building long positions in most technology stocks could be increasingly viable. However, the inherent risk lies in the possibility that Wave (4) may not yet be fully in place. As a precaution, we continue to manage existing risks carefully. Should the market conditions confirm the placement of Wave (4), we will be better positioned to safely escalate our long trading positions in anticipation of the next upward movement.
