Hi, all brokers are market makers to some extent. If you are trading on the Direct Market Access (DMA) platform then you are dealing on the exchange through IG but if using any other platform then IG looks to match those trades inhouse matching shorts to longs. Any excess they hedge on the exchange themselves.
So IG aren't taking the other side of your trade, they are covered whether you win or lose and they make on the spread from both parties. If they need to hedge they still win because they get a better spread than what they pass on to you.

That 'vaccine passport' has been already implemented for decades. It is the registry that any national health system has on your vaccines.

So that vaccine passport is just what you already have, my dear, if you happen to live in Europe or the UK just go to the National Health app and click on 'Travel' , there you will see your 'vaccine passport'
It is already implemented, I had to show it to fly twice this year in two different airports.
Err, I've had all my real vaccines, the ones that completed safety trials, have also had special vaxxes when had to present proof when travelling to a country were there were dangerous diseases present, no problem.
But experimental gene therapy that has no medium or long term risk data for a disease that, according to the FDA, has just a 1 in 250,000 risk, and needing to present proof to go to a restaurant or club in my home town - no, this is not about a virus.
Note that the FDA officials that the Biden admin pressured into giving early FDA approval for these vaxxes both resigned.

Reminder that Covid Alpha that the original vaccine data is based on is extinct, no trace has been found for many months. The Delta variant makes up over 99% of current positive tests.
Delta and subsequent variants are proving to be vaccine resistant due to vaccine ADE which has also compromised the immune system of those vaccinated which is why data from Israel and the US is showing a higher rate of hospitalisations in the vaxxed vs the unvaxxed.
There are only 2 solutions to this problem and boosters of the current vax is not one of them.
Solution 1 is a new vax every season, as drug companies can't predict mutations this will be as hit and miss as current Flu shots.
Solution 2 is herd immunity through natural immunity, allowing people to catch the wild virus and recover while sheltering the vulnerable, exactly what we should have been doing from the start. There is added advantage now in that there are many additional treatments to choose from and many old treatments that were found not to work like ventilating the elderly have been dropped.
It seems clear which is the best solution and which one the drug companies would prefer, the two are not the same.
Meanwhile latest data from the US shows the vaccines making no impact in this latest wave when compared to last year. This is when many more must have natural immunity compared to last year but the vaccinated have increased risk because of ADE.

Comparing US all-cause mortality z-score for the summer waves: - 2020: 24.9 - 2021: ~25 (prediction) So despite the vaccines, we see the exact same excess deaths.

Interesting charts from Michael Levitt of Stanford Uni, Excess deaths way lower in no-lockdown Sweden vs lockdown US, UK, France, Italy and Spain.
Also the under and over 65s deaths split. Note in Sweden the under 65s is flat while UK shows definite spikes. We know from studies that lockdown increases spread rate of covid and increases non-covid excess deaths by 'denial of health care'.
Remember this when Generalissimo Boris John Sun orders lockdowns this winter to protect the NHS overburdened with excessive waiting lists caused by the last lockdowns.

Hi, you need to look at the info ( i ) dropdown tag on the deal ticket for expiratory dates and times when the position is closed and any profit or loss realised. A new same position will automatically reset if you have clicked the auto rollover tab in your Settings page in your My IG. There used to be a discount for having the auto ticked but don't think there is anymore.

A quick word on Peru, the govt decided early on not to waste money on tests and just call any suspicion a covid death, not unlike many western countries, just with more gusto.

The flu has returned to India after an absence of ~18 months. This almost certainly indicates that covid has become endemic in India and that there will be no significant future waves.

Reminder that Johnson's Plan B - restrictions to save the NHS - are a certainty.
The activist organisation the BBC is calling for them already.
Even before covid around 30,000 end of lifers died from acute respiratory diseases every winter.
With the prevalence of covid in hospitals many will come into contact with it and so trigger the 'died within 28 days of a positive test' rule without covid necessarily being the cause of death.
Same for the delayed diagnosis cancer and heart patients excess deaths, all likely to come into contact with the virus but not necessarily catching the disease will still test positive. 96% of UK adults already have covid antibodies.

Interesting data from the latest weekly PHE covid report download (as highlighted in the 'UK Vaccination Programme Part 1'. (article linked several posts above)
Attendance to emergency care and deaths from Covid (Delta) 6 months 1 Feb to 29 Aug 2021
Unvaxxed 219,716
Vaxxed 222,693 (27,993 + 80,877 + 113,823)
So obviously the vaccines do nothing to reduce infection and illness.
But when looking at deaths alone the vaxxed are worse off. 68 per cent of covid deaths when including the partially ‘vaccinated’; while the ‘unvaccinated’ made up less than 30 per cent, when the vaxxed are less than 60% of the population.
So the Vaccines don't work they just make things worse.
Reminder that when the drug companies said their vaccines had an efficacy of 95% what they meant was the difference between 0.88% (next to nothing) and 0.04% (also next to nothing). But that was against the now extinct Alpha not the now dominant vaccine resistant Delta (and all subsequent variants).
