Hi @Squex, unfortunately, we are unable  to change the language of your account to English since you have registered for a German account. However, you can select the option to automatically translate the page to English from your browser settings.

Idiotic logic from IG: "unfortunately, we are unable  to change the language of your account to English since you have registered for a German account".

Do you see the problem here, IG?

Let me tell you something IG that you obviously don't seem to be aware of. Many people move to a country where they don't speak the local language, and are not required to learn that local language.

As Nadelina mentioned we're unable to change the language once the account is open.

However, if you live in German and need an English platform you can have one, You will need to close your current account with us and open a new one on: www.ig.com/ie

That is the English platform for people living in European countries where the primary language is not English.

I hope this helps

I have the same problem and I don´t believe it! Does this still apply in 2023?

I am in the process of comparing different platforms. I just created a demo account and I live in Sweden. Now I have it in Swedish but want to use it in English AND IT CAN NOT BE CHANGED! I saw this forum and I tried to close my account but there is no info how to do it anywhere!

Come on IG people! it's 2023 but your logic from treating your customers is from the early 90´s, pathetic!! In 2023 your solution of "...translate the page to English from your browser settings" is just not good enough!!

Could you AT LEAST warn people when signing up about this stupid limitation of your system? So they will choose a country instead of a language so they can use a certain language..., I´m laughing out loud when typing this, it is so soooopid! Nowadays in internet countries have nothing to with languages! Tell this to your system designer!

Hi @Teppo

We are so sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the account opening process. I have reached out to all relevant teams regarding your feedback. We will be looking for ways to better improve our platform. If you would like to apply for an account and platform in English but still registered under the correct European office, please apply from the IE account https://www.ig.com/ie

I understand this is frustrating and can assure you that your feedback will be reviewed. Thank you, OfentseIG

I totally agree with this. This is just ridiculous to observe. Please fix this language issue asap. There's close to 0 effort  needed just to translate the interface and give the user the opportunity to decide in which language to have the platform.

I got a phone call from sales person of IG and he said we can change the language to English.
So I were finding a way to change that.

Now I see ,we can't do that .
We need to go out from IG.de if we don't understand German.
Even we use google translation , majority of description of IG won't be translated.
Unfortunately, ,,

Just for your information.

Dear IG forum administrators,

I created an account and only afterwards found  this thread.

I want my  web interface to be in English and I am willing to close  my current account and to reopen a new one.

When I browse to www.ig.com/ie and apply for an account, I am presented a form at https://www.ig.com/ie/application-form which asks for my "Country of residence", which happens to be Germany.

Could you please confirm that even if I specify "Germany" (again), I will get an English  web interface language because of the URL www.ig.com/ie ?

Best regards,

Markus

This. I also have the issue that I live in Sweden but want my language in English, both in a web browser and the android app.

If the only way to do this is to close my current account and open a new one on the english language link, will choosing the country of residence switch me back to Swedish again?

Also if I close an account, can I reopen a new one using the same email address I had previously used?

Many Thanks

Dear @Saiyani and @m123m123,

Thank you for your posts! Just wanted to let you know that selecting your country of residence won't automatically switch you back to the Swedish/German website. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Unfortunately, you'll need to create a new account using a different email address.

Thanks,

KoketsoIG

Thank you @Saiyani for asking about the email and @KoketsoIG for the answer. This is late and crucial information. I am glad I did not delete my account.

I reconsider closing my account, reopening it at a site with an undocumented feature, using an email I would have to create for that purpose. I don't like the idea of creating and maintaining a second email.

Please release an official (and tested) procedure with all boundary conditions for an English web interface and refer to it in your account creation pages.

Hi all. For anyone else interested in this topic I tried the solution kindly supplied above here are the results:

I created a new account using a different email address from the previous one I used. I used this english language link: www.ig.com/ie

I selected Sweden as my country of residence, and the Web interface is now in English. Yay!

I unistalled the android app and reinstalled. Probably don't need to do this but it did it just in case. Then I logged in using the email address I used to create the new account. App is in English. Yay again!

One thing to note is that the second account still held the same balance as my previous one. So it isn't a completely reset account. Rather, it's just that the language has changed.

The only minor annoyance now, and difference I have noticed so far, is that previously my currency displayed as Swedish kronor which is what i in fact wanted. It now shows as Euros.

So apart from that, thanks to IG for the help and working solution. If there is a away to switch back to Swedish Kronor without changing the language, please let me know 😀

    • Solana ($SOL) is facing a challenging period in the market, with its price dropping to $130.56 USD. Here’s a closer look at what’s happening and what might be next for SOL. Recent Price Decline 15.17% Drop in a Month: Over the past month, Solana coin has fallen by 15.17%. This decline reflects the broader market’s pressure on the cryptocurrency. 8.5% Weekly Fall: Just this week, Solana saw an 8.5% drop, a sign that bears are firmly in control. Despite attempts to maintain a bullish outlook, the market seems to have different plans. Critical Support Levels Breakdown of $134 Support: Recently, SOL broke through the $134 support level, raising concerns that further declines could be on the way. Key Support at $122: The $122 level is now under the spotlight. This price point has been tested six times, and many whales view it as crucial. A break below this could push SOL towards $90. But if this support holds, it might set the stage for a bullish turnaround. $100 Support: While the $100 support level is still a bit distant, it’s essential to watch if the current bearish momentum continues. Revisiting this level could spell trouble for Solana. Changing Market Sentiment Shift to Bearish: The overall sentiment around Solana is slowly turning bearish. Since March, SOL has struggled to make new highs, and the current price action suggests that new lows could be coming. Potential Bullish Outcome: However, some analysts believe that if Solana manages to stay above $122 throughout 2024 and 2025, it could be incredibly bullish for the future, possibly leading to significant gains in 2025. Upcoming Breakpoint Event Historical Price Surges: There’s a potential catalyst on the horizon. Historically, Solana has seen price surges two weeks before its annual Breakpoint event. In previous years, SOL surged by 35% in 2021 and 2022, and by 60% in 2023. 2024 Event: With 16 days left until the 2024 Breakpoint event, could we see another rally? Only time will tell. The Importance of $122 Support As Solana approaches the $122 support level, all eyes are on whether it will hold. A break below could lead to further declines, while maintaining this support could bring back some bullish momentum. As always, stay informed, and remember the old adage in crypto: "buy the rumor, sell the news." Keep watching the charts as we near the 2024 Breakpoint event.

This self-insured fund, designed to safeguard user assets against potential threats such as hacks, fraud, and market volatility, has shown remarkable stability and growth. The fund has consistently maintained a value above $390 million, surpassing Bitget's initial commitment of $300 million. The exchange ability to continues to maintain a reserve ratio well above 150%, indicating a strong buffer against potential risks. The fund's value has shown correlation with Bitcoin's price movements, demonstrating its responsiveness to market conditions. Over the observed period, the fund's value peaked at $424.8 million and reached a low of $350.7 million, showcasing its ability to withstand market volatility while maintaining a substantial baseline. In February, the fund reached an all-time high valuation of over $543 million, coinciding with broader market uptrends. The Protection Fund's portfolio includes high-liquidity cryptocurrencies such as BTC, USDT, and USDC, which contributes to its stability and liquidity. This diversification strategy aims to mitigate risks associated with external market factors. Bitget's approach of self-funding and internally managing the Protection Fund allows for potentially quicker response times in critical situations, as it operates independently of external regulations and approvals. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, the performance and management of such security measures will likely remain a point of interest for both users and industry observers.
