Awaiting live price stream - 4G data

Amrhossam

Question

When connecting to 4G data I can’t access live pricing and my account balance & margins are not updated

this is happening on IPhone app as well as web version on my desktop when I connect over 4g , but when connecting over wifi everything works fine

has anyone faced such a problem: everything works fine on wifi but not in 4g data ?

I am facing the exact same issue since the start of this week. I have an iphone13 pro, in the Vodafone network.

judging by the other comments you have an issue with Vodafone here.  Can we get this resolved asap as it is impossible to make orders unless you are on a desktop or connected to Wi-Fi.

I have same problem. This only started yesterday morning (or over weekend that noone noticed). Everything was ok till Friday evening. Live streaming is frozen on 4g or 5g but all good on wifi.

I have iPhone 12 Pro on Vodafone.

Will appreciate update on this issue.

Can we have update on when this issue will be fixed please ?  We obviously can’t do any trading if we are not connected to Wifi , so we appreciated if this is treated with higher priority please

appreciate any update your end

thanks 😊

Hi @Amrhossam @CPD4 @ScorpionTrader @Rh23,

The IT team is working on the matter. It has been identified that the issue only affects clients using Vodafon as their ISP. More generally, some Vodafon clients have not been upload images or videos on Twitter for few days now.

We are trying to get a fix on Vodafon ends but we are awaiting for a fix.
A workaround would be to use a Wifi network at the moment.

We will keep you updated once fixed by Vodafon.

Thank you for your patience - Arvin

Hi @Amrhossam,

Thank you for your post. It is possible that the 4G connection is unstable or to weak to support the data feed.
Could you please confirm which Iphone model and iOS version you are using?

We will be able to raise it to IT or App developer for some feedback.

Thank you - Arvin

Hi @Amrhossam @CPD4,

Thank you for your messages, I raised the issue to IT. Could you please both confirm who is you provider?

It could be an ISP issue.

Thank you for confirming - Arvin

@AndaIG I don't think this has anything to do with Vodafone. Today when my streaming stopped on 4g, I checked my twitter and it was all ok.

More over, IG Demo account worked fine on 4G - all price were streaming as they should.

Also check this post where streaming in API stopped working as well.. looks connected as both stopped after weekend.

Will appreciate if IT can have a proper look. If demo account works, surely they can find why live account does not work.

This should be treated as highest priority/ production down/ P0  issue as it is preventing us from trading and the platform is not accessible

can that be escalated to management please to get it resolved ASAP, it’s really not acceptable to have such problem for more than 72 hours now and we even don’t have fix ETA

Hi @ScorpionTrader @Amrhossam

Our IT team is still looking at this issue. I'm afraid we have no feedback just yet. However there is a real possibility that the issue could be at Vodafone's end. I will share some articles that we have come across:

https://piunikaweb.com/2022/02/09/twitter-videos-images-not-loading-for-vodafone-uk-subscribers/

https://www.reuters.com/technology/vodafone-portugal-hit-by-hackers-says-no-client-data-breach-2022-02-08/

We will keep in touch when we have feedback from IT.

All the best,

Anda

Came here looking for answers after another frustrating day on the app, this has been since Monday for me too. Have deleted and reinstalled the app today, but it's still the same, markets show as open, but no stream or information of my account. I am also on Vodafone with an Iphone 12. Properly frustrating!!!

Hi @Onthecurve,

We apologies for the inconvenience caused. Our IT team advised that they expecting a fix from Vodafone in the morning UK time. We will then be able to run test on the iOS app.

Thank you for your patience - Arvin

    • Capital, win loss ratio. If you have a trading edge and you can consistently win 50% of your trades, so your winning 5 trades out of 10. So if your risking 1% of your capital per trade, out of your 10 trades 5 would be losers, so that’s 5% loss and realistically out of the 5 winning trades, some would make small profits, some break even and 1, 2 or 3 could run nicely IF you can let your profits run, basically your making money out of 2 trades out of the 10 trades (80/20 Rule Pareto principle) So a $20,000 acct risking 1% is $200 per trade, this will keep the trader with his trade risk based on being able to win 50% of his trades. A long term trend trader can win with 30% wining trade. Basically you need to know your numbers. Rgds Pete
    • Investing in stocks can be a great way to grow your wealth over time. However, there are different approaches that investors can take when choosing which stocks to buy. Two of the most popular approaches are growth investing and value investing. Growth Investing Growth investing is an investment strategy that focuses on buying stocks of companies that are expected to grow at a faster rate than the overall market. These companies are often in industries that are growing quickly, such as technology or healthcare. Investors who use this approach believe that these companies will be able to generate higher profits in the future, which will lead to higher stock prices. One of the main advantages of growth investing is that it can potentially provide higher returns than the overall market. However, it is also riskier than other investment strategies, as these companies often have higher valuations and more volatile stock prices. Value Investing Value investing is an investment strategy that focuses on buying stocks of companies that are undervalued by the market. These companies may be in industries that are out of favour or have recently experienced challenges, but they have strong fundamentals and a history of profitability. Investors who use this approach believe that these companies are undervalued and that their true value will be recognized in the future, leading to higher stock prices. One of the main advantages of value investing is that it can potentially provide lower risk than growth investing. However, it may also provide lower returns in the long run, as these companies may not have the same growth potential as companies in the growth investing category. Comparing Growth and Value Investing Growth and value investing are two different approaches to stock investing, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Growth investing can potentially provide higher returns but is riskier, while value investing can provide lower risk but potentially lower returns. An investor may choose one approach or a combination of both. A portfolio that contains a mix of growth and value stocks can provide a balance of potential returns and risk. Conclusion Both growth investing and value investing can be effective ways to invest in stocks. The key is to understand the potential risks and rewards of each approach and to choose the one that aligns with your investment goals and risk tolerance. Analyst Peter Mathers TradingLounge™
    • I am a beginner, and I must say, there are a lot of rules to the trading game that one must abide by if they want to be successful.   Here, the writer mentions several basic rules for day vs swing trading.  However, I find that often times, the reasoning for these rules is not as  obvious for a beginner as it may be for an expert.   The 'why' factor if I may. For example, why must you have a large capital to trade with as a day trader? Because your positions must be large so that a small change in price will be augmented and turned into a large profit. Also, with such high risk, the margin will be specially high, given the trader is taking up large positions at a time.  Without a large amount of capital, positions may be forced to close due to funds being below margin requirements.  When this happens, you can expect to lose tons of cash, fast.  I learned the hard way.
