Two Time frame Charts

Question

Using the IG platform is it possible to view the same pair across two different time frames across two different screens?

I have two screens and would like to view a pair on one side in a 4 hour chart and on my other screen on the 1 hour chart. I can get two browsers up but if i change the timeframe in one it changes the other one too automatically.

hi, you can open the whole platform again in a new  browser window by using a 'in incognito' window is one way around the problem.

I think there's a nicer way than what @Caseynotes suggested. If you use multiple screens, you can "tear-off" charts or even put a workspace in a separate browser tab. Then you can just drag whatever you want to a 2nd screen.

Does that make sense?

Yet again I think you need to have recourse to RealTimePro to make this work.

BTW, the RTP platform for me 'feels' different from the Web platform.  I see things differently when using it, even the P/L is different.  Anyone else feel that way?

The IG Web platform is pretty naff, and even the IG analysts don't use it.

IG, as a courtesy to your users you should make RTP access free for all and not have the cheek to charge for it when your web platform is so wonky.

But some might say that you can't make the perfect platform because there will always be compromise. Platforms then are aligned in to 2 groups, the emphasis being on either dealing or charting. The IG web based platform is designed for dealing first and foremost while the ProRealTime and MT4 platforms are chiefly designed for charting.

Having used them all I think IG should consider taking up MT5 to incorporate stock trading and drop PRT altogether.

Just imagine someone who works in IT and is attempting to be a trader.  The two most frustrating and hopeless professions at once.  Wow.

I have found the best thing to do is just open up the practice account in another window and use that to draw on the H1 chart. Then just have my main screen with my live account and the D1 charts

    • Dow's moving up this week  But it's got a long way to go before we see the highs we were earlier this year.  Was 22nd March the turning point for the bear?

    • Hello friends, I have my account with IG to trade forex and now I was looking to buy some shares (American). Should I add ISA account OR Share dealing account ? what's the difference. IG Support team left this company on its own, NO answer from them, email/phone. Thanks,
