  1. Hi @scuttsy. The min distances for all stops (guaranteed or normal) change throughout the day and is dependent on market volatility at the time.
  2. Ok, I can't find that one on my SB live or cfd demo UK offering but a couple of things, there is no spread between the buy and sell price because the market is closed so the deal ticket (New Trade) won't be working properly, it can't tell the diff between buy and sell or lower and higher. You won't be able to place a trade on the 'New Trade' ticket untill market open Monday morning. You could try it on the 'New Order' ticket instead where the order will sit waiting for market open, it looks like it's asking for a stop price rather than the number of points away. Not every offering has the option of a Forward (Futures) contract as well as a Cash contract, you would need to look at the chart as per my pic. That looks live rather than demo, are you sure you want to dive straight in? might be worth placing a few practice trades first just to get the hang of the platform.
  3. yeah @Bell, I suspect you are right, an actual meet at the G20 between Trump and Xi was only officially agreed yesterday and whatever comes out of that will be the next big driver. I don't worry myself too much about the longer term we have all seen these major markets turn on a dime, or a two sentence Trump tweet even. Also saw an interesting EU wide poll during the week reporting that for the first time ever the greater % of those polled though the EU would not survive in the long term 😧
  4. Hi @CABBAGETREEPALM, yes the stop distance should be lower when buying, not sure which etf you are looking at but am presuming you are on the spread bet or cfd platform, in the example below on the order ticket once you have clicked Buy > entered size > entered entry price, then the platform should say what is the min stop level, how much is risked and the margin requirement. Also, if you are looking to hold for a longer period check to consider buying the Forward rather than the Cash to avoid the daily 'overnight funding' charges.
  5. Gold no longer heading for 1276;
  6. We also need @elle to start a new Gold thread as well, eg 'Gold heading for ????' 🙂
  7. Hi @EdFuk, it's in the EA section of Navigator, see pic. Re indicator not working try the fix in this thread;
  8. MT4 Indicator Not Working Fix There have been many thousands of custom indicators written for MT4 most of which are available for free download scattered over the web, on rare occasions you will load an indicator and it will freeze the platform (see here https://community.ig.com/forums/topic/6198-mt4-not-responding/) or sometimes not appear or sometimes only appear partially. Possible reasons for this include incompatibility, the current MT4 update is something like 1090 and some indicators written for earlier versions will not work on later versions. Also check the indicators Input settings list that arrows, lines etc are switched to True not False. There may be a missing .dll file in mt4's library needed for the custom indicator, check the dependency tab in the indicator pop up box. If you have the source code (the .mq4 file) you can try the re-compile fix. Open the MetaEditor, double click Indicators then double click the problem indicator. Choose a number at random, change the number to a different value and press 'Compile' then change the number back and press Compile once more, look to see if the indicator is now working. The EX4. file of an indicator can't be modified and so won't appear in the MetaEditor list.
  9. Dow tags the Feb 8th low support (24877 blue) before the US market open, Week and month end flows today could be interesting.
  10. Dax looking to bottom at S4 around 11670 and follow dow as it tries to push back up.
  11. Just an observation on daily pivots and the pin point accuracy with which they are often recognised and used as support and resistance levels intraday;
  12. Matching the strong to the weak currencies is about as good a oneway trade as you're going to get in FX.
  13. I don't think the same restrictions apply to personal messages on the forum as apply to the open forum?
  14. This is an important point, trading only great setups is essential and the only way to grow a small account but if you are trying to live off a small account you will be chasing everything and that doesn't usually end well.
  15. Pivot points are just a calc based on the previous day's OHLC but more to the point they are just like Fibs and everything else, they only work if the big boys are using them. Over time I've found support and resistance and pivots work more often than anything else and that can only be because more large scale traders are also using them. One reason is because they are basic, simple, old and established, handed down mentor to pupil. All indicators 'work' but how well they work will depend on how many traders are actually using them to provide signals that they react to and so leave a price action foot print on the chart.
  16. After the overnight drop dax and dow will be trying to hold onto short term support of the recent low, dax 11798 and dow 24934. Dow currently at S2 and not sure which way to head from here.
  17. Oooch, BTC punches down to 8000 in it's usual lightening fast style, BTC charts do have a certain box type symmetry;
  18. The indices took another knock overnight on Trump reasserting his plan to steadily increase tariffs on China while China reiterated their stance to protect their sovereign right to thieve intellectual property and bar the foreign companies from China that they want to copy the business model of eg Amazon. The moves in the markets are very much sentiment driven as US GDP, PMIs and consumer spending are all good while inflation remains low, for now anyway.
  19. The main story of the day was gold and oil, they started out gold down oil up looking good for indices turning risk on but both reversed leaving indices stalled. The strong risk off move on the daily candles (gold up, oil down) also broke through short term support and resistance levels, so not surprising dow was unable to lift through 25214.
  20. No problem, if you are still on mt4 there are some downloadable ones from mql5 web site, I have loads but can't load them onto this new forum platform like on you could on the old one however you don't really need a constantly updating one, a periodic check on a web site is usually fine. My preference is probably the one where each currency has it's own line so then a simple case of matching a high one to a low one.
  21. BTC in a big ramp up then a ramp back down again, supported at 8547 for the time being but a sound rejection of the attempt to move higher.
  22. Several attempts later and dow still unable to cross back above the broken weekly support level 25214 (red). Dax in a similar position with it's daily support level 11924 (orange).
  23. Gold has rallied the last couple of hours, now at 1281 hence the indices reluctance to move forward.
