Cannot place order due to HUGE pts away min. on the Stop guaranteed

ConorMc

Question

This has always been a minimum of 20 or 40 points from the market price for the indices I trade, now it seems its showing 10% of the sell price as the minimum points away. 1869.7 in this case as  seen in my screenshot. If I try to entertain it place the trade with that far stop, it says I don't have enough margin. My account has ample margin. Is this some weird bug? Has anyone experienced this before? How to solve? I need to trade.

Hi, what type of account do you have? is it the Share Dealing account (non-leveraged) or a cfd/spread betting account (leveraged).

I was able to get on IG phone support last week who said that this was an error on IG's part and it was reset back to normal. Now the issue has happened again to me and I cannot trade due to this. I confirmed with my brother who also has an account on IG, his minimum points away stop has never changed. It only happens on my account.

What do you mean you will close me out at the price I desire?

It's absolutely insane to not allow a market stop within 2400 points of the Wall Street Cash price right now, its ridiculous. This is 10% of the total price of the Dow Jones as a minimum stop away from my entry price.

So what your basically saying that you will put the guaranteed stops to limit your exposure to risk, not to limit our exposure to risk. you realize that a stop of 1869.7 is nowhere near to close to the market price. just saying, this has been going on since the 30th march and still happening at the 15th April, seems a little hypocritical. might look else where, this is touted as a polished product, not what I'm seeing here.

especially with this canned response.

Thanks for your post.

With these stops we will close you out at the price you desire then take on any additional loss. Due to current market volatility we cannot allow guaranteed stops as close to the market price.

These are assessed by our exposure desk and risk teams.

All the best

    • Because of this, it's wise for traders to thoroughly investigate exchanges before choosing one. I exclusively deal with cryptocurrency exchanges that have declared proof of reserve in the wake of the unfortunate events that saw some go bankrupt and others hack. Because of what I've heard traders say about Bitget and the fact that it met my requirements, I had to start using it right away. Therefore, I'd advise DYOR to choose whatever best meets your needs.
    • The Santa Rally – Christmas Growth in the Stock Market. You may well of heard of the ‘Santa Rally’. It’s a commonly discussed stock market theory. It is the basic concept that the stock markets, particularly the major indices, show positive returns on the run up to Christmas and the New year. Myth or legend? We look at the stats.  As you can see from the below table the FTSE100 rose in price in 12 of the 15 years. That’s 80% of the time. The average difference was 1.95% https://moneysandi.com/the-santa-rally-christmas-growth-in-the-stock-market/ Anyone had any experience of trading this?  #trading #money #trader #investing #investment #crypto #stockmarket #stocks #business #invest #entrepreneur #finance #investor #daytrader #daytrading #trade  #wallstreet #wealth #santarally #finance
    • It all boils down to the exchange's dedication to protect customers' assets. Apparently these exchanges that haven't recorded any hacks for 5+ years of functioning like the case of the first exchange you mentioned, are working behind the scene to make it happen. HTX and the likes need to do more and save the industry’s reputation already.
