Poolbeg was spun off from Open Orphan and started trading 19/7.

Shares were automatically to OO holders, wherever their holdings were held.  Mine are split between share dealing / ISA accounts at IG.

Any idea when they may show in my positions?

    Thanks...........

    Hi @Petermac999

We have contacted our Custodian in regards to this. Once received, we will allocate the shares on your account.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

just wondering if any GME shareholders had received anything from IG regarding the shareholder vote?

    Hi @Gav_in,

Yes we do offer Proxy voting. When you invest in stock via your share dealing account, we’ll hold the shares on your behalf in our nominee account. This means we can vote by proxy on your behalf. If you’d like to vote by proxy, you’ll need to send us a signed proxy form available from the relevant company’s website.

For more info, please click here.

    Thanks,

I am new to the IG platform and I might be missing something but  "deposit  - transaction costs (including currency conversion) +- profil/loss" is not equal to the total account value shown in the dashboard. The difference is not minor, about 3% , is there any other cost that I need to be aware of that is not in the transactions?

    Hi @canh,

If you have already taken into consideration the currency conversion, the only explanation is that since you bought the US shares the $ has become weaker than the £.

Let me know if you have any doubts. You can always contact our helpdesk @ helpdesk.uk@ig.com and we'll look into it.

    Thanks,

Can someone confirm if IG commission cost are at a fixed rate and how this works exsactly?

    Hi @Junebug,

What is the account you are looking for? We offer different accounts and the commission scheme is different for all of them.

If you are looking for a normal Share Trading account, please find our commission structure here.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

I’ve been practicing on the CFD market on the demo, since regular markets take far too long to drop or rise.

however when I opened a ‘proper’ account it won’t let me buy or trade CFD’s. I heard you need 10k in order to trade? Fair enough. I also heard you need 500k, I find that ridiculous.

how do I open a CFD account, this is driving me nuts!

    Hi @Itsbecauseofthem,

Please contact our New Business team by sending an email to newaccounts.au@ig.com.

    Hi all,

I want to buy shares in one company/ I want to sit on them/hold for about 5-6 years. Do i have to pay 24.99 every quarter?

    Hi @bluetempler,

If you don't make 3+ trades in a quarter, we will charge you a Custody fee of £24. Probably not the best option for you.

    All the best,

    Hello

I have completed a transfer request form to transfer shares into my IG account.

The estimated time to complete this transfer is 14 days. It has now been 32 days and no transfer has been made.

Please  advise when the transfer can be completed.

    Hi David,

The stock dematerialization was completed. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

  8. Hi @dynamitedean,

Please click here to check our Margin call policy and a short video explaining this.

    Example.

    Cash balance = £1000

You place a trade which requires = £200

    Equity = Cash balance +/- Profit/loss

In a nutshell we will start closing your positions when the Equity will be less than 50% of Margin (Equity < £100 of margin requirement). In this example you would need to have a running loss of ~ £900.

    Cash Balance £1000 - £900 Loss = Equity £100

    I hope this helps,

    Jakub

Does anyone know if i move as an example £100K from a bank cash ISA into an IG Investment ISA much as this year i can trade £20K within my CGT tax free allowance, what would i be allowed to do with the remaining £80K. are there any trading restrictions on cash accrued through an ISA wrapper or am i free to trade as i wish as long as i stay within the annual allowable ISA top up.

I am currently looking to move a substantial sum of money from a bank cash ISA and into an IG Investment ISA but would not move more than the annual allowance f there were restrictions such as those potentially mentioned.

    Hi @MayLouise,

There are no restrictions on how much ISA cash from previous allowances you can transfer from a provider to a different provider.

If you transfer £100K to us, you will be able to trade with the whole amount. If £20K (from this £100K) were deposited after the 6th of April 2021, you won't be able to deposit £20K with us until the next FY.

You don't pay capital gains tax. Any gains made by investments within your stocks and shares ISA are not subject to capital gains tax.

Please "quote" or tag us by quoting @MayLouise, we don't receive a notification if you don't.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

ican open account with IG in USD

    Hi there,

If you are talking about CFD/SB accounts you can change the base currency to US $.

If you are talking about a Share Dealing account, the base currency has to be always GBP £ however you can opt for a multi currency account where you can hold different currencies, USD included.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

Has there been a big Increase in margins for CDF trading since last week ?  Only started Monday 29th.

When I try to put on a IG CFD trade or order I get a huge increase in margin charged.

For example , when trying to place a Buy for 1 position on the US 500 , the dashboard shows Size 1 AUD $1 per point , pts away minimum 3.  But when I put in a stop of 10 or 30 etc I get the same charge of A$198.65 (NZ$216.68)

Why this huge increase in trading margin charged when this is not shown on the pts away minimum ?

I this is a new IG policy , this will end my trading with IG.  It makes swing day trading unworkable.

Do other IG CDF traders have the same issue ?

    James NZ

    Hi @trader331,

I believe you are refering to the new ASIC regulation which came into effect at the end of March.

The leverage restrictions have been confirmed as follows:

    Hello,

Is it possible to trade via ProRealTime and see the same orders on MT4?

I'll open orders on ProRealTime and will be able to see them on my IG MT4.

Thanks for your answers from now.

    Hi @anyacoder,

When you trade on PRT, you are launching your IG account on PRT hence you can see PRT orders on IG platform and viceversa.

When you trade on MT4, you are trading on an individual MT4 IG account and the above doesn't apply - This means that it isn't possible.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

Hi all, Just for clarification, if USA dividend payments are received is the total amount received decreased due to conversion rates If you are UK based? Or are there any charges that would decrease the amount expected? Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi @Hammerian,

In the US the dividend withholding tax rate is normally 30%. However, in terms of the double tax agreement between the US and UK (if you are a UK resident), the amount of withholding tax can be reduced to 15% by completing form W-8BEN, issued by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

If the base currency of your account is GBP we will convert the dividend from $ to £.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

Hi, this is my first question on IG Community...so ple be gentle :-).

When trading indices on the platform- (under drawings- volume) there is a volume number on the various time bars. Is this number just trades by IG customers or does this number include other people/a broader mkt other than just IG?

    Thanks.

    Hi @Johnno,

The volume displayed on our platform is taken directly from the Exchanges and it shows the market volume not only IG clients volume.

    Thanks,

    Jakub

The website says the IG smart portfolio is fully managed. Does this mean there is no input allowed on where the investments should be in broad terms? I expect it's not ok to say "invest in this particular company," but what about a general direction for the managed investments like "invest in this sector"?

    Cheers.

    Hi,

You can choose the type/risk of your account however you can't choose a specific sector. All five portfolios are based on models that are managed by BlackRock. BlackRock are a leading asset manager with over $6 trillion assets under management. We created our partnership to give everyday investors the opportunity to invest in their expertly managed portfolios.
