JakubIG's post in Trading us stocks was marked as the answer
Hi,
If you trade US/EU/UK etc. shares on your ISA account, you are exempt from Capital Gains tax.
You are subject to 30% Withholding tax on dividends (15% if you fill the W8-BEN form in).
Thanks,
Jakub

JakubIG's post in Pattern day trader was marked as the answer
Hi @Thomas,
The short answer is no – the pattern day trader rule does not apply in the UK. If your trading broker is not regulated by FINRA – ie it is regulated by an authority outside of the US – you will not be bound by the pattern day trader rule.

JakubIG's post in USA Dividends was marked as the answer
Hi @Hammerian,
In the US the dividend withholding tax rate is normally 30%. However, in terms of the double tax agreement between the US and UK (if you are a UK resident), the amount of withholding tax can be reduced to 15% by completing form W-8BEN, issued by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
If the base currency of your account is GBP we will convert the dividend from $ to £.
Thanks,
Jakub

JakubIG's post in Margin Call clarity, was marked as the answer
Hi @dynamitedean,
Please click here to check our Margin call policy and a short video explaining this.
Example.
Cash balance = £1000
You place a trade which requires = £200
Equity = Cash balance +/- Profit/loss
In a nutshell we will start closing your positions when the Equity will be less than 50% of Margin (Equity < £100 of margin requirement). In this example you would need to have a running loss of ~ £900.
Cash Balance £1000 - £900 Loss = Equity £100
I hope this helps,
Jakub

JakubIG's post in See ProRealTime Orders On MT4 was marked as the answer
Hi @anyacoder,
When you trade on PRT, you are launching your IG account on PRT hence you can see PRT orders on IG platform and viceversa.
When you trade on MT4, you are trading on an individual MT4 IG account and the above doesn't apply - This means that it isn't possible.
Thanks,
Jakub

JakubIG's post in USD was marked as the answer
Hi there,
If you are talking about CFD/SB accounts you can change the base currency to US $.
If you are talking about a Share Dealing account, the base currency has to be always GBP £ however you can opt for a multi currency account where you can hold different currencies, USD included.
Thanks,
Jakub

JakubIG's post in ISA Cash to ISA Investment Account was marked as the answer
Hi @MayLouise,
If you hold an ISA with a different provider, you can transfer over to us both cash and holdings.
Let's say that you hold a Cash ISA with a different provider which consists of £70K cash from previous FY allowances. If you haven't used any allowance for the FY21-22, after transfering £70K to IG you will still be able to deposit £20K more for a total of £90K (the other provider sends us your ISA allowance history).
You can initiate the transfer on MyIG > Live accounts > ISA > Cash/stock ISA transfer.
Thanks,
Jakub
