  1. The trade talks are done and not even the pretense of making any headway, Trump happily tweeting that companies should make goods in the US and avoid Tariffs! Interestingly the markets seem to have given up caring with price now back to start the day levels or higher.
  2. Yes, not quite so much fun though when your account is racing towards zero 😀
  3. Some 15 odd common simple trading strategies to take a look at and trial, written with fx in mind but can be used on most anything; https://www.earnforex.com/forex-strategy/
  4. @HinduDavi, yes selling means shorting. The margin is the amount you must have in your account to cover any potential losses on the trade.
  5. Hi @davidbrister, the code for mt5 is completely different to mt4 so indicators and EAs are not transferable. You will need to select an existing mt4 EA (free or paid) from the Metaquotes web site (for all things mt4 or 5), see https://www.mql5.com/en/market/mt4 or look to create your own, see video below.
  6. Both Dax and Dow oscillating about their point of control which is at the same level as yesterday. Marking time waiting for new news.
  7. Hi @HinduDavi, presuming you are talking about CFDs you can find out more here. https://www.ig.com/uk/cfd-trading
  8. With Dax up 130 points between 6am and 7:30 the implied volatility on options is up around 33 so will continue to leave alone for now.
  9. Bitcoin rise continuing and now back into an area of consolidation from late 2018, might be time for a breather though volume currently remains relatively good. Daily chart;
  10. Ftse remains more subdued, currently at the pivot 7235 waiting to break either way. R1 is 7281 and S1 is 7200.
  11. On the M30 Dow heading back up to the pivot, R1 is 26050 and S1 is 25555. Dax stays low waiting for the Eur market open at 7am, R1 is 12200 and S1 11955.
  12. Oil waiting on the trade talks, will the world need more or less in the immediate future? Oil should get a lift on any deal being announced and sink on dispute escalation.
  13. Doesn't seem as any progress has been made, the Chinese undoubtedly confused as all other US presidents have just capitulated at the first sign of trouble. Dow checking the downside, Dax retested yesterday's low, both now rebounding. The last news was of just an hour ago and not much expected now til Trump starts tweeting about 1pm bst.
  14. Dax has followed Dow back up having visited S2 briefly and is now centered on the day's S1 which has become the point of control. Trade talks about to start, tomorrow likely to see even bigger moves.
  15. US indices climbing back up towards the open price after another day of mixed signals but the real talking (US/China) starts after US market close, might be worth keeping an eye on the futures market for a clue as to London open prices tomorrow.
  16. Hi @andyls, yes the guaranteed stop will work out of hours. You are only charged overnight funding (interest) on positions held open after 10 pm UK time. There should be no problem with withdrawals and they are usually completed on the same day, though there may be an additional information request if you have funded by card but want the withdrawal to be deposited into a bank account.
  17. The big move coming late in the day for Dax as it follows Dow down after US open while US futures started the move down an hour before hand.
  18. When you look at a chart it's easy to see the turning points, they are the most obvious feature, so it's easy to get drawn into looking at a chart and trying to pick the next turning point. What you really need to be doing is firstly look to see if the chart is trending and if the answer is yes then you should be looking for an opportunity to get on board the trend. And that will be either at a continuation breakout after a short period of stalled momentum, or at a pullback.
  19. Tiring and frustrating, no firm control and long tails both ends of the candles, no sooner have you got in you are scrambling to cover.
  20. Interesting but it is Italy after all, they'd go on holiday even if there was a war on, what's the story for US and UK?
  21. Well, it is an interesting chart, it's a good example of what the chart of a well run company looks like, also demonstrates that overbought doesn't mean sell, and that buying the dips would have been a successful strategy. Shorting for revenge might turn out to be rather expensive. 🙂
  22. Dow initially broke lower lead by Dax this time but the move down looks to have stalled, very volatile PA and implied volatility on the options is around 26 making them expensive again today so no option taken.
  23. The Chinese delegation are at the airport waiting to depart and emphasising they are going by invitation while in the US Trump tells a rally 'China has broken the deal'. Should be fun.
  24. Dow back down testing support this morning and looking to bounce. Expecting a day driven by trade talk headlines again with price ranging between the current S1 and R1. Dax is holding up a little better buoyed by better than expected Ger indy prod data. Nikkei is being hit the hardest due to it's closeness to China while Ftse has problems of it's own with Brexit uncertainty. So initially will be looking to see if Dow will break down through support or start a leg back up to the top of the range and would expect the others to follow.
