  1. One of the most amazing charts of the S&P500 you will ever see plus the very interesting article behind it (posted today). http://theirrelevantinvestor.com/2018/07/19/pareto/
  2. The Dow 4 hour looks poised for a break to the upside which could carry the others along with it.
  3. Yes it's a bit special, to have a commentary from someone who has the perspective of an intraday trader right through to a hedge fund manager and then beyond to that of running an exchange is something else. Very clever guy. Also in explaining in perfectly reasonable terms why the 2 head offices are based in the British Virgin Islands and in Gibraltar without once mentioning tax or regulation was so well put the interviewer missed it altogether, made me laugh.
  4. Very interesting interview with Mark Lamb, Co-founder and head of liquidity at Coinfloor (UK's number one Bitcoin exchange). Very clever guy with an interesting back story, he started buying Bitcoin at $8. Talks in detail about how the Coinfloor exchange works as well as differing types of trading on it. 30 minute podcast. http://www.futuresradioshow.com/podcast/207/
  5. Dow makes an important break up past 24944 resistance of prior high and now aiming for 25405. Looking to Dax and FTSE to follow. 4 Hour charts;
  6. Greg Michalowski talks football, the world cup and trading in this 12 min video.
  7. Indecision as trade war looks to rattle on with further escalations. Nikkei down and Dax and Dow stalled on the way up. 4 Hour Charts;
  8. Dow and Nikkei start the week on a positive while Dax and FTSE hesitating. Daily charts;
  9. Continuing to dig their way back up the charts though dax and dow and nikkei encountering resistance. What will NFP bring to the table? Daily charts;
  10. NFP day sees DXY still trapped between 9384 and 9522. Currently sitting on the bottom of this range while EURUSD is still trying to push up off the June low. Daily eurusd and dxy charts.
  11. Hi @JamesIG, I'm finding the 0.98 MB max limit size for attachments constricting, for example the pic I posted this morning in the apac morning call?? thread had to be cropped very tightly to get it within the limit and as there is now no resize function means I always need to consider MB size that was never an issue on the old community platform.
  12. Hi @MSP007, that is correct, market depth comes with the Level II data package as opposed to the normal Level I. Level II is only supplied to a CFD account so UK clients taking advantage of the tax exempt spread betting platform would need to change if wanting market depth input. Depending on what assets you are looking to trade and so which exchanges you are looking to receive data from there may or may not be a charge for the market depth data, a quick call to IG should provide the relevant info. See link for the LII platform manual in pdf form. https://a.c-dn.net/c/content/dam/publicsites/1439568973395/igcom/uk/files/other/CFD/ig_cfd_l2_dealer_manual.pdf
  13. Hi @MSP007 not sure which platform or time frame you are looking at but on the new platform and on the weekly chart I've noticed the the current volume bar isn't displayed while on the daily it is. Remember though that the current volume bar will start at zero and gradually progress though the course of the time period and can only be used for comparison once closed. Trying to use an unfinished volume bar for comparison will be very misleading.
  14. All on the back foot this morning on a belated reaction to the story from Friday morning posted in the 'Trade war' thread. https://www.axios.com/trump-trade-war-leaked-bill-world-trade-organization-united-states-d51278d2-0516-4def-a4d3-ed676f4e0f83.html
  15. Dow recovered on the US session open yesterday pulling the dax and ftse up along with it. Dow now stalled at resistance 24373 while ftse is attempting to break 7659 with a view to 7705.
  16. Was interesting @PandaFace, even more so now as people realised Trump was only discounting the most severe response to China (for the moment), not actually halting the 'trade war'. Bounce off the 200 MA on the 1 hour chart and back to retest 24084.
  17. So dax was indeed rescued by the dow as 24084 held and price reversed in the morning session, then a surge up for both after midday on news Trump was not planning to invoke 'national emergency law' on China. dow and dax comparison 1 hour charts.
  18. Dow undecided yesterday so now retesting support at 24084. Dax drops into prior range and into open space, will need dow to rescue.
  19. Yes, well written and presented and covers the main need to know patterns without labouring the point, very good. Published just last Friday. I never would of thought to look to find it in IG analysis > news and analysis > trading opportunities? I wonder what else is in there, that section really needs an index.
  20. Good educational piece by Nial Fuller that looks first at chart structure and identifying key components then looks at candle patterns within those key areas to identify entries. http://www.learntotradethemarket.com/forex-trading-strategies/price-action-technical-analysis-footprint-money Price Action Technical Analysis Reveals the Footprint of Money By Nial Fuller in Forex Trading Strategies Last updated on June 26th, 2018 | One Comment
  21. So, becoming more familiar with the layout and getting to grips with the setup. I like the way added media such as pictures open up on a new page when clicked so they can be kept open while you move on to read the rest of the post or go on to a new post. Before I would find myself with the community open on several browser pages. I also like the extended view on the all activity page as you can get an idea of the content before opening, it would be even better if there was a signal that there is additional material such as pic, link, vid as was the case on the old community. The extended view is so extended you often think that the text is all there is and so don't open. The search function is better as I get use to it but still find it not as responsive as the old one. I use this a number of times a day. Often you see a question and think 'I've seen something similar before', on the old search you could bang in a couple of guessed at key words and get back 4 or 5 thread titles and usually find what you were looking for. Not quite so on the new one, on the new search if you don't get it exact you either get too little or too much and I sometimes get a better result using google to search the community. I expect I'll get better as I learn more of it's secrets. On the whole very pleased with the changes and very much enjoy the new 'up to date' look and feel of the thing, definitely an improvement and easier to use once you get the hang of it.
  22. Indices halting decline over the Asian session, dow, nikkei and aus leading the way, looking for dax and ftse continuation. 4 hour charts.
  23. Dow trying to put a bottom in at prior support, the others following suit. 1 hour and Dow daily charts.
  24. GBPUSD goes large speculators net short for first time since end of 2017. Euro net long continues to decline. Dow continues net long after bounce off zero beginning of May.
  25. Start the week testing support after Hong Kong index drops 1.2%. Dow, Dax, Nikkei and FTSE100 daily charts.
