I don't believe that pensioners should have to live off savings.  They should get a pension from the state (or better, from their employers) that allows them to live in dignity.

A rentier, you know, someone who lives off high interest rates or landed property.  They extract money by virtue of having money, and prevent money being used for productive things.

Although your use of the phrase High interest rates is pejorative, surely it is just interest...  Been the case since the dawn of money anyway, high or not, so what are you advocating exactly?

Free and easy money.  The worst thing is people having nothing to do, buildings being empty, machinery unused, and everyone feeling miserable.

So UK wages are back at pre "crisis" (ha they will run out of superlatives for the coming storm!) levels.  And yet retail is struggling and no one can afford to buy a home.  HSBC are the latest mega firm to announce job cuts, I wonder if it has anything to do with rising wages...  Of just the fact that banks can't make any money within a ZIRP/NIRP environment...  Coronavirus is the blame du jour for missing targets and while the world is going to hell in a handcart a property firm is telling it's staff that they cannot expense meat in meals.  Never mind the meek inheriting the Earth now it is the vegans..  "Head of values team"?  No wonder these firms can't make any profit!  The world has officially gone mad, sell everything!

The UK is officially in recession, and the slump in the first six months of the year is worse than most of its peers. However, the monthly data already shows that the worst is behind us for the economy. GDP numbers for June show a strong bounce in activity as the economy emerged from lockdown.
