  1. LarryA wrote: Hi James Thanks, but that link is dead. Sorry about that, when I typed the url hyperlink I included a space at the end of it which caused it to be a dead link. If you try it again here it should definitely work: https://www.ig.com/uk/trading-apps In regards to the second point I believe you are trying to click the 'update' button rather than searching for it again? I have just tried on a couple of devices and it's appeared, and as far as I'm aware we haven't received any other reports of this, so it maybe something isolated to your iPad or Apple App Store. Where about are you based? (For example if you're in the USA you may not be able to access). I think if you start by trying the above link again it should be fine, but failing that please give us a call and we'll try and help one and one over the phone.
  2. Hi - thanks for your question. This is the cost of the Guaranteed Stop which is only charged if it's triggered. CRPREM stands for Controlled Risk Premium. I hope this clarifies things.
  3. Hi - if you are having issues please either search for the IG trading app in the app store, or use the following link https://www.ig.com/uk/trading-apps
  4. Hi - you're welcome. It certainly can be a steep curve, but please don't stop asking questions if we can help further. All the best.
  5. So short answer - yes. The overnight borrow charge as set by the underlying market is percentage based and therefore will be effected by the prevailing price at the time. For example on this ETF... Price = 22.20 Borrow at this time = 4.8% Over number of days = 365 So at a current market price of 2220 would give... 2220 x 4.8% / 365 = 0.29 ...whilst a market price of 1110 would give 1110 x 4.8% / 365 = 0.15
  6. - Further to post above please find a good break down of how this is calculated at the following link. The thread is now closed but if you have any questions please simply comment below https://community.ig.com/t5/IG-Trading-Support-and/Last-night-s-funding-costs/m-p/18239/highlight/true#M463
  7. Hi Jerry - so the German listing unfortunately can't be traded. This is quoted in Frankfurt, but it's different from the electronically matched Xetra listing and would instead require a very manual process (call Citi via EMSX, who then call the pitt to trade). Unfortunately this just isn't feasible via the offering which we have so we wouldn't be able to offer this.
  8. Overnight borrow charges are actually variable basis the underlying market, and therefore not projected online (in the same way as the TomNext values when dealing FX overnight). You can however give us a call or drop us a message if you wish to know what a particular stocks overnight borrow charge would be to short an equity. These charges should be transparent and quoted on every overnight statement.
  9. Hi Shawn - When you are shorting stock there are two factors to take into consideration, both the overnight charge to main the leverage position (which basically boils down to a charge paid to borrow cash from IG to maintain the fully leverage sized whilst only requiring say, 5% margin), and the the borrow charge. When you sell a stock you basically borrow it from a broker to sell at the current market price. If the market moves in your favor you aim to buy back at a lower price and then profit on the price difference. There is, however, a borrow charge issues by the broker to borrow the stock or ETF. The good thing about ETFs is that generally there is an 'inverse' which will track the downside movement in the same asset. I am unsure if there is for this particular one (and unfortunately I can't suggest or find an alternative as this would be financial advice) but if you wanted to have a look into this please check out our market screener.

Can anyone help? Have I just missed the opening times and it is closed again or is there some other factor? Hi - apologies that I didn't confirm in the original reply to yourself, however I was following on from the thread above (specifically the post by myself with a green tick next to it which can be seen here). Unfortunately you can only trade HK stock via a CFD or spread betting account, and it won't be available on a share dealing account. Sorry about any confusion I may have caused, but to clarify currently we have the following markets on the non-leveraged side of things: UK: FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and many other small cap UK stocks US: S&P 500, NASDAQ 100 and many other small cap US stocks Germany: DAX, HDAX, MDAX Ireland: ISEQ Netherlands: AEX Belgium: BEL 20 Austria: ATX, WBI Australia: ASX/S&P 300
  11. Jerry1 wrote: Hi James/ All I have the same newbie question but it is 6 months down the line. Wondering if things have changed? I want to buy one particular share (Tencent Holdings) on HKSE. I can see it on the platform, there are messages relating to status eg market open, call to deal but the stock label is in red and the options to buy don't seem to be opening up so far even when the market is open. Hi - Tencent trades in Honk Kong and therefore won't be open at the moment. You should be able to trade this over the split session, from 1.30 am - 4 am, and then from 5 am until 8 am. (All times in GMT) I hope this clarifies things.
  12. Great reply but let me just clarify a few points 'officially'. You can also have a look at our share dealing web page here: https://www.ig.com/uk/investments/share-dealing Stock via a share dealing account is held in a Nominee account. This means that the securities are held by IG so we can facilitate cost effective transactions whilst you are still the true owner of the stock. If you wish to withdraw your stock at any time, you can. If you wish to materialise your stock into an older (and arguably dated) share certificate, you can, however please note that physical share dematerialisation fee is £50 + VAT per certificate. This fee is levied to us by our broker, and passed on to you. If IG were to become insolvent, the stock would still be in your name and wholly owned by yourself. We’ll deposit dividends into your account as soon as we receive a payment from any shares you own. The payment will appear as cash on your ledger, and in most instances will take a couple of working days to settle (as the cash payment needs to clear before we can apply it). Corp Actions are dealt with on a case by case basis. We will be in contact depending on the specifics of the CA. Any other questions please let me know.
  13. Stocks can be quoted and traded on a number of different exchanges and have different 'lines' or 'listings'. You could, for example, have a stock quote on the London Stock Exchange or the NYSE, but also in Germany. Apple, for example, has both a US listing and a German listing. With American stock we also offer some as 'All Sessions'. You can read more about that here, but fundamentally it means you can trade outside of the main US session. Apple, once more, is an 'All Sessions' stock. You can therefore see the following on Apple, with the first being the more widely traded. Apple Inc (All Sessions) Apple Inc (DE)
  14. Hi - please make sure you look into the follow and let me know. I think this should resolve your issue. In the top URL click on the IG Group text > Flash > Always allow. It probably is automatically set to default, but this method should get you sorted. You will then be prompted to refresh your page, so just accept / click yes.
  15. Hi - unfortunately you can't buy a fractional share in the underlying market, so we wouldn't be able to offer that on a share dealing account or ISA. Like stated though, you can trade 10p a point via a spread betting account (or a set number of shares via a CFD account) which would have a margin required of about £620-ish. Please make sure you also have sufficient funds to cover the downside movement, and properly look through the IG Academy if you would like to learn about our product.
  16. Hi - Sorry about the delay on this on - I have submitted the query onto our corporate actions team and will get back to you as soon as possible when I have a better understanding of what what is going on in this instance.
  17. Hi You are correct in your first calculation at £9.25 /day. In regards to your second question, these percentages are how much the spread increases by (the difference between the buy / sell values). It maybe useful to check out our education section here.
  18. davealpro wrote: I am trying to trade MCS. I get the following message; "Limited Risk trading is not available on this market at this time." I am not sure why. The market is open. It is FTSE250. Hi - if you have a limited risk account then you will need to have a guaranteed stop on your trade. In some instances however, the market you are trading can't have guaranteed stops ( because it is too volatile for example ), and therefore you wouldn't be able to open a trade. You can read more about limited risk accounts using this help and support link.
  19. From a financial perspective if you are holding a share in a spread bet account via a forwards contract then you will pay the spread to get into the trade and that's it. You will also have to close, or roll the position at the date of expiry. If you are holding a DFB then you will pay an overnight charge as laid out here. These are done automatically if you hold a trade through 10pm UK time. 20. Hi - please can you confirm which of the follow you are looking at? MORT - NYSE listed - VanEck Vectors ETF Trust MORT - London listed - Mortice Limited If it's the second this will be because the market is too illiquid to offer on leveraged trading, usually due to a small market cap, or small free float level. You should however, be able to purchase on an un-leveraged share dealing account.
  21. Hi - sorry this has taken so long. I still believe the previous message was correct at the time given the time of year, however if you let me know (via a private message) which ETF you are referring to I shall go and investigate with the Corp Actions team.
  22. JustinC wrote: Hi James, Just set up an account looking to execute my first trades from my share trading account not CFD. Filled out the W form online to allow trading US shares. Got this message trying to buy Alibaba stock on NYSE? Emailed help desk Hi - unsure when it was you were trying to purchase, but if it was a similar time to when you posted on Community then it's likely it was because the market was shut over the weekend / holiday hours. Please try again during market hours and if you are still having issues give us a call and we'll be able to investigate on your account specifically.
  23. Hi - unfortunately we can't deal in US OTC stocks, and hence you won't be able to find this on the platform.
  24. Hi - when a dividend is paid it will go to our prime broker first (for example Citi) who will then send the funds over via a BATS transfer. This usually take a couple of working days, however because of the recent holiday season it will take longer. As soon as we've received the funds you should see it posted on your IG account as a cash value, and you'll be notified via the overnight statement. I believe these funds should be with you very shortly. I hope this clarifies things and apologies for the delay.
  25. not to worry - any questions you have about the new platform what so ever (from how to do XYZ, to where is this/that/the other) please ask and I'll help best I can.
