  1. well you could say buying dips in an uptrend is using TA but to me it's using price action studies on appropriate chart structure. The problem with TA is where do you stop, once you find everything works sometimes then you end up with so many layers of it absolutely every handle is covered as a possible turning point. The main consideration are the stats, because dip buying (in an uptrend) allows relatively tight stops (when you are wrong it's obvious early on you are wrong) so a win rate of around 35 - 40% is enough.

  3. ok, that's interesting and a big change from your previous post (about 95% win rate) so down to not sticking to the strategy?
  4. hello and welcome to the forum, we do have some gapper traders but they seem to have gone quiet the last couple of weeks, wonder if they have run into the same wall.
  5. Apple is listed on the LSE with the ticker 0R2V. I don' think you can link the L2 to PRT, they are both stand alone dealer platforms, I think you need to have both open but I may be wrong.
  6. The futures date is the rollover date where the spread must be paid again if you are staying in the trade (you don't pay overnight interest funding on futures). Check your settings for the rollover in the My IG dashboard > settings as to whether auto rollover or auto close trade. Get the futures charts (if available) by the small arrowed dropdown box next to the DFB chart name. see pic.
  7. Tentative start to the London session. Dax and Dow M15 charts.
  8. Welcome to the future, Zerohedge has been banned on Facebook and Twitter for daring to produce an investigative report on the Chinese Bio weapons programme. In China police are calling on people who post info on the coronavirus telling them that only the government is allowed to provide news and if they don't delete they will be arrested. The left leaning Liberal elite became 'the establishment' several decades ago now and having taken control of main stream media are now starting on social media.
  9. looks like flipping, to TA or not to TA. The problem with TA is that it doesn't drive the market. The hedge and pension fund managers who control billions spend hundreds of 000s on research ever year, are they really spending that on a bloke down in the basement drawing lines on a chart and looking for patterns? or are they more like the weather forecasts and use computer modelling to gauge the affect on the price of different potential scenarios so that when x happens they expect market price to go to y, I wonder. Heikin Ashi charts are great if you have a problem with flipping, the noise reduction encourages the user to stay in a trend longer. The M15 HA chart above is of course related to the daily candle and looking back that daily candle is not really so rare, there is no reason not to try to short on a correction but the ride is usually less than half the distance compared to picking a bottom and riding the uptrend up.
  10. Dow trying for support at the weekly chart support level (red) 28119, Dow the same at 12947 while the S&P at 3214. 8 virus cases confirmed in the US on Saturday, so far stats suggest the coronavirus has a higher infection rate but lower death rate compared to SARS. (themarketear)
  11. Over the weekend Indices and USD up, Bonds, Oil and Gold down. PMIs today, Ger at 8:55, UK at 9am, CAD at 2:30pm, US 2:45 - 3pm.
  12. The thing is you can have just incoming, follow who you like, you don't have to be part of any group and news updates are usually faster than msm outlets. (Tweetdeck) yes his stuff auto erases, he is an interesting follow, a rich trader (was rich before started trading though), has stage 4 bone cancer and has been charting the progression of his cancer for the last 5 years (this will probably be his last), tweets and posts vids everyday, loads of tips and tricks.
  13. lol around 2012-15 this use to happen every UK release, there was clearly a leak but suddenly stopped and nothing ever heard about it.
  14. lol it looks like the forum's turned into a sports betting shop 😆
  15. The option should show up in a watchlist though only available for FX at the mo.
  16. Hi, yes. Go to the 'Positions' tab on the left hand side of the platform, find the open trade and click on the stop box and several dropdown arrows will appear, on the left hand one should be the choice of type of new stop including trailing.
  17. A down turn could well run for a month as the graphs I been posting here since Monday on previous pandemics show clearly but will depend on progression. The affects on the economy are as much to do with prevention measures to prevent the spread of the virus as the virus itself, if infection rates continue as other pandemics then similar affects to the global economy will be seen as per previous infections, this is the reason for the recent market correction. Yesterday saw a sharp drop on rumours the first cases had been detected in the US as well as confirmed cases throughout western Europe. If the virus threat can be contained then there could just as easily be a quick return to previous market levels as to any further downturn. https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/dow-dives-coronavirus-sparks-slowdown-fears-stock-market-indexes-airlines-2020-1-1028864285
  18. here you go @dmedin, a short vid on how to scalp on the daily chart, just for you 😁
  19. hi, overnight just means the trade is still open at 10pm and so your account will be credited or debited as per the pic below per trade contract size. Currently only FX has a working estimate. see the guide in the link in the post above.
  20. Hi, not sure how you are managing to do that, it should save as is automatically on platform close ( File > Exit) You can also save your whole layout as a new named 'Profile' from the File tab.
  21. or in other words Dow has just tripped on down to check S1 and Dax followed. 🙄
  22. yes if you were trading a H4 chart but within that chart on the lower time frames are loads of opportunities to jump in with a 20 point target bracket order. So range play or against main trend have a profit target but when running with the longer time frame trend leave the target open and trail the stop instead.
  23. you really need a min of 2 time frames the daily being one and perhaps the hourly to align trends. Weekly and monthly charts are of an interest but more of concern to hedge fund managers. Also worth looking at a lower time frame chart that has noise reduction such as an HA 1 hour. Look for a doji that tends to signal a directional change, bar colour change and tight MA direction change for confluence.
  24. Dow bulls trying to take back the pivot now. Dax and Dow.
