  1. Not a lot on the calendar this week the biggy being US NFP on Friday. UK GDP today. China on holiday for the week starting Tuesday.

    Dow still within this consolidation pattern since mid Sept and looking for an excuse to break either way with the others waiting to see.

    Month and 3rd quarter end flows today.

    @Caseynotes,

    Forget any course. What do you think of trading as a private trader vs trading company? That is the core subject area of this thread? So forget any course or anything of that nature. What you do think?

    Just to start off there are different advantages to trading as a sole trader to trading within a company structure. Of course I am sure you will know that the taxation rules have to be known and understood. Which do you favour and why? I am not asking you any personal question or to divulge any personal information, just what your thoughts are?

    As I've stated in other threads there are plus's and minus's to both so it will depend on an individuals situation but young go-getters definitely queue up to be interviewed to work for prop firms.

    Team approach, large accounts of other people's money, all the extras like news feeds, low latency connections etc.

    Personally I prefer the individual 'own boss' approach.

    I wonder how many people on the IG Community watch over an hour of this? Just out of interest did you actually watch it? What do you think of his humour in regards to Ace beating King in the video?

    Yes of course I watched it, chiefly because it wasn't really about poker. It was about debt. How trade and commerce functioned in the absence of money in the very early US mid west and lead to the founding of the CME and the whole futures market.

    @Caseynotes,

    Is that a magazine you read? I assume you are recommending it as there were no words or anything to go with the link. What is good about the magazine from an investors perspective? What would they gain? I just wanted to know before I even think about reading it. I am sure others on the IG Community may also be interested too.

    I don't look at any but I remembered this one was mentioned on the forum a year or so ago so I thought to add it to the pile. It's well established and free so no harm in browsing.

    Still waiting for someone with experience to start a thread on optionstrading 😉

    Could be interesting and educationally

    Remember a oilguy? in ythe past that did some trades but he? stopped for some reason?

    And i think Caseynotes did som trades also?

    Ah yes, our friend who got himself banned, his long only options strategy looked to be working well until the indices stopped trending and started this long consolidation phase at the start of 2018 and it all went pear shaped.

    I toyed with them for a couple of months on demo but for my own trading I was not convinced there was any advantage over SB's.

    am newbie to IG index and a non -us resident living in asian country  looking for weekly,monthly option CFD on US stocks  like Amazon,Facebook with leverage 1:10. I created a demo account but couldnt find  option cfd  for US stocks.  Kindly advice

    Hi, IG don't do US stocks or UK share options, not sure if it's a regulation thing but don't know of any UK brokers who do for US stocks. IG only cover the cfd US indices options

    @Caseynotes,

    I suppose for someone who is supposed to be intelligent your behaviour is pathetic. You just want to bury me and that is your motive rather than concentrate on quality posts. Why don't you show how good you are rather than waste time with this?

    you are back to the usual diversion tactics when caught out being a weasel again. the holier than thou pretense must be really hard to keep up.

    Oh a something interesting thread.

    I love playing Texas Hold Em Up Poker. Do you play Poker @Caseynotes?

    I prefer the Texas Hold Em up version to say three card or other varieties. What do you think?

    It is great to use Poker when looking at odds and probabilities. What do you think?

    I used to watch the professionals play Poker on TV. Someone whom I have known since I was a child actually won Poker Million and I watched him play live on Sky Sports.

    There are quite a few traders who use poker analogies or refer to poker. You may have come across them.

    I think the Scandinavian professional poker players (if you ever watch them) play quite an aggressive style especially on flush draws. Have you noticed? If you try and relate this to trading then you may get some traders who trade aggressively for a short period when the price crosses the 20 DMA but then revert to a less aggressive stance as the price moves towards say a 200 DMA on any breakout after a long correction or fall.

    can't imagine why you would tag me for this and it's not really interesting.

    @Caseynotes,

    If you know it is against forum rules then what are you doing about it? Do you not have a moral obligation? With 6000 posts comes great responsibilty.

    I am a big baby but boy are you childish. I am a horrible person but boy are you immature. For you it is all about one up man ship.

    I suggest you concentrate on trying to get to 10000 posts and 1 million likes.

    lol, he only hinted, there was nothing 'to do about it', so YOU went fishing to try and catch him out. Total setup, pathetic.

  10. Video on how the scammers on instagram, myfacebook etc turn up with fantastic looking 'live' account records with reputable brokers by using white labeled fake mt4 servers. Scamming is clearing becoming a massive industry in the world of retail trading (as if it wasn't big already).

    Very strong language

    @Caseynotes,

    Please I am doing no such thing. I think my questions are perfectly valid as @adish initial post was not clear so we had no idea.

    He has since clarified it. End of.

    Thank you Adish for answering my questions. That is the end of it. You are now stirring and just trying to cause trouble.

    Haha, you know it's against forum rules because every time someone has tried to offer a pay for service on the forum you immediately flag it up to admin, "sir sir look sir". This guy hints he might have a service to sell and you jump in to ask what it is and how much will it cost. Total setup, you are just so transparent it's laughable.

  12. Markets were fine until this afternoon with news the US were considering limiting exports of oil to China and that they were also thinking of limiting investment flows into China. Could be the start of a Trump war escalation and there may be a reaction from the Chinese over the weekend which would lead to the possibility of a market gap down on Monday.

    You call my questions intrusive! Oh my god you are catching 'the clown disease' from me.

    You can't answer anything, just deflect and divert. You keep things simple because, well that's obvious why. I don't read your threads but do read your posts in other threads and respond when your ego is clearly marching on and mislead people or when you refer to me directly or indirectly which happens often. Now you are referring to my DNA, are you just being racist?

    Hi @adish, be aware that offering commercial services on the forum is against the rules and Trendfollower above is just trying to set you up to get you banned.

    Wrong again,

    I can sort of see what you were trying to do, short the pullback failure but the entry should have been either up around 915 or wait until the prior low at 890 was taken out but not at 900 just as price was about to arrive at the 'First Trouble Area' (the low at 890), in fact almost anywhere but there.

    the problem I'm having is having to switch back and forth between my cfd and spread account to close trades, is there anyway

    i can have in either my cfd or spread account a workspace window that shows both my cfd and spread open orders together, would be a massive help

    to not have to keep switching accounts.

     It wont let me have a second browser tab open either with the different account, if i switch to cfd in one tab then the other tab changes to the cfd aswell automatically.

    Anybody that can help please.

    Hi, do you really need both types of account? Spread Betting is just a tax efficient form of CFD. The platforms should be basically the same but I may be wrong, is there something you have found on one and not the other?

     I thought a lot could happen in 3 years. I read the posts...

    I fully understand Forex volume, OTC etc... and that it would be impossible to show all volume accurately. However, being a big house like IG and depending where they get their feed from, many datafeeds of volume are not too shabby. They give you a good overall understanding what is going on in volume. And volume is a key aspect of trading. Am I not right?

    Apparently someone decided that volume was good enough to have on IG web application for FX!! Thank you Sir / Madam!

    But question still remains - Why can't we have it on ProRealTime? I believe the latter is a PREMIUM product for more ADVANCED users who want MORE ? Not less than the web interface gives you!

    looking for fx volume might be worth having a look on the futures chart, those contracts go though a central exchange unlike otc spot fx so it's easier for brokers to collect and display the data and is highly correlated to the spot market.

    IG have their own version of prt which normally takes a year to write after a new version has been released by prt. To get the premium version you would have to go to prt direct and pay their monthly subscription.

    Hi new to Ig.com.

    I had an open spread bet, which was closed in the morning automatically. Unsure why this happened. How can i keep my spread bets open over certain days until I close myself?

    Please advice

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, the position should not have closed unless there was a limit order as a target or you closed manually or there was some unusual bug on the demo platform.

    You still are unable to answer any of the questions.

    I don't think I've answered any of your ever increasingly intrusive questions since 2018 have I, I certainly haven't been reading any of your posts which were growing so very tiresome, it's either stuff that can be found in any trading book or as Mark says, BTCs gone up a bit or BTCs gone down a bit. Not like the good old days when you used to add 2 and 10 thousand day moving averages, whatever that was suppose to tell anyone I guess we'll never know now ☹️
