  2. oh dear, we printed money to lend to ourself and now how are we going to pay ourself back, er... just a thought but are those presses still handy?

whoa's me, we should never have left the gold standard when printed money was backed by gold, now what's it backed by ??  er, well us actually. Printed money is backed by production, people and infrastructure. There needs to be enough money in the system to keep production going but not so much as to cause excess inflation.

That's how it's always worked, people come up with a creative productive idea and the Govt prints money to pay for it, then collects taxes on it forever after. The gold didn't actually do anything. Ah, but gold kept us honest, well inflation can do that just as well.

Does anyone know what IG charge in terms of FX spreads, im not after normal currency pair CFD spreads, just actual spread when converting my AUD to USD to buy USD shares/stocks?

    cheers in advance.

Hi, there is some information on currency conversion rates in your 'My IG' page > Live accounts section.

Thanks for the prompt response. What i was also looking for was having done this, if I then move my cursor so the price changes on the right hand vertical axis of the upper chart or lower chart (I've set up an 1 hour and 4 hour on top of each other), then the cursor/price does not show on the second chart, so they are not synchronised. Is this possible?

Not sure what you mean but as you've seen the web based platform won't layer different time frames of the same asset on top of each other, it's either side by side or in a different workspace, the MT4 platform will though.

I want to buy to open but it wont allow it. MCap well over lower limit, two different stocks. Why would this be?

Hi, It might be because IG are unable to find seller to match your buy order or because IG themselves have reached their own risk limit on that particular market, usually seen if there has been very heavy one sided trading.

    Hi there,

I am new to IG after using a free trading platform the last year or so.

    Just a few questions:

    - slippage. IG say that if the execution price moves beyond their 'tolerance level' then the trade won't go ahead. What is tge tolerance level, in petcentage terms I guess?

    - Order level. Is this as simple as it seems? Just set it to as close to the previous close price and once the price surpasses that level the stock is bought?

    Thanks, Robert

Hi, regarding slippage I've not heard a definitive answer to this as I think it depends on the normal liquidity of the particular market and then the available liquidity during increased volatility. So a poorly traded stock could have a greater chance of slippage than a more heavily traded index.

The order level is right though you may be informed the chosen level is too close to current price and you could also suffer slippage if the market open is different to the close. Orders are processed on a first come first served basis and yours might be way down the list.

Hi - is it possible to sync activities on multiple charts? For example, I like to look at charts for different time periods, one on top of each other (e.g. 1 hour, 4 hour and 1 day chart) and  then add indicators which appear on all charts?

    Thanks

Hi, there are two ways to do that but first set up a template chart with indicators then right click > save as > and name the template which can then be applied to any chart. Then either use the split screen function to have up to 4 different time frames of the same asset in one 'workspace', or create a different time frame chart in a new workspace, you can have as many as you want and just click through the workspaces  to bring each chart up in turn.

Kind of looks like we're getting sideways action going nowhere for now.  :(

yeah, really the overall data was probably quite neutral and a certain amount of relief the data wasn't very bad being expressed in the initial response.

  9. yes, apparently we'll all start having to eat babies any day now, let's start with Greta.

@AOC is so hellbent on deluding people about an apocalyptic environmental crisis that she doesn’t have the courage to tell a hysterical baby-eating conspiracy theorist to stand down.

One of Ocasio-Cortez's constituents loses her mind over climate change during AOC's townhall, claims we only have a few months left: "We got to start eating babies! We don't have enough time! ... We have to get rid of the babies! ... We need to eat the babies!"

Video on how the scammers on instagram, myfacebook etc turn up with fantastic looking 'live' account records with reputable brokers by using white labeled fake mt4 servers. Scamming is clearing becoming a massive industry in the world of retail trading (as if it wasn't big already).

    Very strong language

Youtube banned this video above on how scammers using disconnected broker servers to show fake live trading accounts so the guy put it on Dtube instead. see here.

  11. Could be very exciting today, if the purchasing managers are more gloomy than expectations have the hiring managers been hiring as per expectations? and heading into a weekend the worry warts could start a panic if figures are bad, delicious.

Yesterday the indices looked to have found support and are attempting to rally.

  12. Indices, Oil and Gold rallying after the Tue and Wed drop, Bonds down. Not sure what's going on on that Facebook chart.

The big one today is the US non-farm payroll at 1:30pm, the consensus is 145k or 150k (depends who you have asked),  the actual unemployment rate and the average hourly earnings also able to move the market, also watch out for plenty of Fed speak going right into the US market close.
