  1. The indices are searching for support but we may well be getting close to the end game here as Trump threatens to go 'all in' with a tariff on the remaining imported goods from China ($500 Billion). Chinese can't respond in kind and have started to talk of a boycott instead, time to do a deal?

  2. Hi @JohnWoottonUK & @PandaFace,  Don't know too much about him or this Dow strategy. He does get a hat tip from Bill Bonner who I have followed for years. I was wondering where you found the strategy John and if you have done his 4 day course in the first link below?

Panda, Eoin Treacy's book Crowd Money could be a contender for your tread on books (2nd link).

  3. Yes it's a bit special, to have a commentary from someone who has the perspective of an intraday trader right through to a hedge fund manager and then beyond to that of running an exchange is something else. Very clever guy.

Also in explaining in perfectly reasonable terms why the 2 head offices are based in the British Virgin Islands and in Gibraltar without once mentioning tax or regulation was so well put the interviewer missed it altogether, made me laugh.

  4. Hi @JamesIG,  I'm finding the 0.98 MB max limit size for attachments constricting, for example the pic I posted this morning in the apac morning call??  thread had to be cropped very tightly to get it within the limit and as there is now no resize function means I always need to consider MB size that was never an issue on the old community platform.

  5. Hi @MSP007, that is correct, market depth comes with the Level II data package as opposed to the normal Level I. Level II is only supplied to a CFD account so UK clients taking advantage of the tax exempt spread betting platform would need to change if wanting market depth input.

Depending on what assets you are looking to trade and so which exchanges you are looking to receive data from there may or may not be a charge for the market depth data, a quick call to IG should provide the relevant info.

See link for the LII platform manual in pdf form.

  6. Hi @MSP007  not sure which platform or time frame you are looking at but on the new platform and on the weekly chart I've noticed the the current volume bar isn't displayed while on the daily it is. Remember though that the current volume bar will start at zero and gradually progress though the course of the time period and can only be used for comparison once closed. Trying to use an unfinished volume bar for comparison will be very misleading.

  7. Was interesting @PandaFace, even more so now as people realised Trump was only discounting the most severe response  to China (for the moment), not actually halting the 'trade war'.

Bounce off the 200 MA on the 1 hour chart and back to retest 24084.

  8. So dax was indeed rescued by the dow as 24084 held and price reversed in the morning session, then a surge up for both after midday on news Trump was not planning to invoke 'national emergency law' on China.

  9. Yes, well written and presented and covers the main need to know patterns without labouring the point, very good. Published just last Friday.

I never would of thought to look to find it in IG analysis > news and analysis > trading opportunities? I wonder what else is in there, that section really needs an index.

  10. Good educational piece by Nial Fuller that looks first at chart structure and identifying key components then looks at candle patterns within those key areas to identify entries.

  11. So, becoming more familiar with the layout and getting to grips with the setup.

I like the way added media such as pictures open up on a new page when clicked so they can be kept open while you move on to read the rest of the post or go on to a new post. Before I would find myself with the community open on several browser pages.

I also like the extended view on the all activity page as you can get an idea of the content before opening, it would be even better if there was a signal that there is additional material such as pic, link, vid as was the case on the old community. The extended view is so extended you often think that the text is all there is and so don't open.

The search function is better as I get use to it but still find it not as responsive as the old one. I use this a number of times a day. Often you see a question and think 'I've seen something similar before', on the old search you could bang in a couple of guessed at key words and get back 4 or 5 thread titles and usually find what you were looking for. Not quite so on the new one, on the new search if you don't get it exact you either get too little or too much and I sometimes get a better result using google to search the community. I expect I'll get better as I learn more of it's secrets.

On the whole very pleased with the changes and very much enjoy the new 'up to date' look and feel of the thing, definitely an improvement and easier to use once you get the hang of it.
