Does IG answer the phone?

Question

I've been trying to call IG to setup a new account and was on hold this afternoon for 45 mins and then tonight at 1:00am i've been on now for 30 mins and no one is picking up.

Is this normal? Whats the best way to speak to someone at IG?

Thanks for your first post.

We are currently experiencing high volumes of calls/ email due to increased volatility on the markets. It's not the normal for clients to have to wait so long for IG to get back to them but all of the client facing team are working as many hours as possible to get back to as many traders.

We're sorry for the inconvenience

The desk are staying on the phone lines and having calls back to back.

We're sorry that we can't get to everyone as fast as normally.

It might even be 0.1% at this stage.

Deadly crisis - everyone better go out and buy more freezers and stuff them with more sh!t and thus prevent non-hoarders from being able to buy anything.

Folk are clever, they really are.

I joined IG in March 2020. It takes at least 65 minutes for them to pick up the phone. My account has had so much issues it has been a pain connecting to support.

This really has to improve. Customer's can't be waiting endlessly to get support. With high volume, 10 minutes max or setup web chat for quick help.

Twice I was on both for 30 minutes each time no answer. When you find away to speak to someone at IG tell them to answer the phone please

I believe the expression used by trendy young London people these days is 'IDGAF'.

Yeah I've spent well over an hour each day for two days to try and reopen my isa for this year. I'll try again tomorrow but otherwise I'm taking my business elsewhere. Would be handy if you could fix these problems online.

in March-April I would easily be on hold for up to an hour

but of late it's less than half an hour, yesterday it was pretty much instant

I did have one call where they picked up and took care of an issue, but when they talked to me I could no longer hear them so they hung up and got back to me by mail

    • 👀 ... PM announcement due at 4 pm.
    • Lockdown until the flu virus (corona) is beaten for good. Victory at any cost. You know it makes sense!!!!!    The absolute state of these clowns ... Apparently, SAGE now saying that if we don’t have an immediate, month-long lockdown Christmas is off. The cost of such folly will mean millions of people won’t be able to afford Christmas anyway. The virus will still be waiting in early December. @allisonpearson   The answer is to lock SAGE up for a month and let the rest of us proceed sensibly with our lives, while backing medical professionals to improve treatment and care of the infected, reducing mortality. Lord Moylan @danielmgmoylan   Reminder that Covid-19 has a similar fatality rate as common flu and that the 5 year rolling average for deaths from flu type infections is around 30,000 a year, was before covid, during covid and will be after covid. It is typically the last battle of the old and sickly and has been since forever.
    • Glad to see your posts at the Indices thread. James16 and company at the Forex Factory had the great phrase “day trading off the daily charts”. That and trading the hourly ranges is what I have been doing recently.
