why we don't have short for such a big company .

    Hi @amilio

Thanks for the question, a share will usually be restricted from short positions if we are unable to lend it from our broker. This can be influenced by a variety of factors such as: Small market cap, if the share is undergoing a corporate action or heavily shorted shares.  In some cases we are able to borrow against our own inventories, so it is best to contact the helpdesk to check for borrow. All the best

    Hi support

Can you tell me what happens if a share ceases to trade, because the company has been wound down? I.e if I had a position of £200 pp in a 2p share would that be a £400 loss or would my position just cease to exist and I'm liable from what ever positive or negative balance I gave on that share?

    Hi @Stingray77

    Thanks for the question

We will close your position at a price of zero, meaning that you would realise the GBP400 loss. We will then typically open a proceeds line which is untradeable and brings no value to your account. If the company is ultimately declared worthless and there is no return to shareholders, then the proceeds line will be closed at a price of zero. Hope this helps

  3. Hi @Ann65

    Thank you for the question

There is no specific amount of trades that should be closed before the program should start working. I suspect that they may be a lag before it starts working. Please note that Trade Analytics is still a beta version, so I would give it till Monday. If it is still not working then would you please send some screenshots to helpdesk.uk@ig.com for our IT team to investigate. All the best

  4. Hi @specwise

    Thanks for the question

To enable deleting using the delete key on the keyboard you can do the following:

Click on settings from the main toolbar, then platform, then objects in the shortcuts section. You would then have to click in the delete object box. Then press the delete key. The box should change from being blank to showing delete. I have attached a screenshot of what this should look like. All the best

  5. Hi @Ranks007

    Thanks for the question

Daily borrow cost is calculated as follows:

    Borrow Cost = Number of shares x Price x Borrow Premium(%)/ 365

I see that you were charged for 3 days because you held the position through a weekend. The borrow premium as it stands on Qantas is 0.9%. I hope this helps in reconciling the charge.

    Many thanks

  6. Hi @Fatbrain thanks for the question, please note that we make certain shares available for share dealing only whereas certain shares are available for both leverage and share dealing. This is a decision that would be made by our shares desk based on range of factors such as borrow, broker margin, market cap etc. The best place to check is market info>other in the deal ticket. This section would show if a particular share is restricted. All the best

Hello! Do you have any examples regarding professional experience?

    Hi Mark

Thank you for the question, a Banker, Portfolio Manager or Sales Trader are examples that come to mind. The list is potentially endless though. The experience will be considered so long as the position was a professional one in the Financial sector that requires knowledge of spread betting or CFDs.

    All the best

    Hi

No EOFY statement received via email or not in the history, history only shows CFD, not share trading. When we can get the statement? It is August now, It should be that hard if set up in the system to generate statement automatically.

Hi @MFRAGLER711 , please note that Consolidated Tax Certificates have been released and should be available from My IG>Live accounts>Statements. This statement is automatically generated only if you received dividends during the tax year. Please see the below link for more information on the statement types we provide for the different account types.

    Hi,

I am experienced in buying within ISAs however I am new to IG and shorting using spread bets and have tried to short some stocks on my demo account including Mulberry, Deliveroo and Just eat. I also tried Deliveroo on my live account but do not get the option to short on any of them only to close, is this because they are deemed too high risk by IG?

    Thanks Ian

    Hi Ian

Thank you for the question, We only offer Mulberry on a share dealing/ISA account due to the share being unborrowable as well as high broker margin.  This means that you would not be able to take a short position on this share because we do not offer opening positions on leveraged(spread bet or CFD) accounts. Deliveroo is unborrowable meaning we are unable to borrow stock from our broker against which we can offer short positions. In cases where a substantial number of our clients are long we can borrow against our own inventories and potentially offer you a short position. You will have to call in and check borrow in this case. Just Eat London listing is available for short positions on the DFB contract, The US listing is only available for share dealing/ISA. Please note that you can check under market info>other to see if there are any trading restrictions on a share. Hope this helps

    Regards
