    Although I have done this , I canot login to mt4 . as log in i put my MT4 number and for pass my regulare password for IG but it seems to not be working.

    Hi @locotrader, your IG password won't work for MT4, you should have been given a new computer generated one to start and you can change to whatever once you are in. Can't remember how that is sent to you for the live account, the posts above suggest it may be by email so check there.

    For demo it's installed auto each time you open a new demo from 'File' > 'Open an account'.

    I am currently new to IG platform is use the web one,

    My problem is I don't understand how placing an order works,

    firs of all how can I sell something if I don't have any shares yet as I have tried to do so with a demo acc,

    for example the price of a stock is at 5$ and I wanna place a limit order and buy at 5$ and the set another limit order to sell at 5.5$ how do I do that?

    Hi @Marian, You have a leveraged demo share dealing account so you can sell without ownership by lending from IG.

    You may have been looking for a straight non-leveraged share trading account but IG don't have a demo for that as yet.

    HI,

    I have an issue with the way PRT forms weekly candles. It appears they are formed Tue-Mon instead of Mon-Fri. This creates issues when analysing charts as the last candle sometimes fails to generate a signal or generates an inaccurate one.

    How can I change it to display weekly candles as Mon-Fri?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi @Mephisto59,  IG weekly candles should start on the weekly IG market open which currently is 11pm Sunday (utc +1)

    You can check and change your PRT time zone settings, see this vid below;

    @FFS_Daytrader, re; dashboard, the only thing I can't get on is a brief econ calendar news events of the day, what do you think?

    Hi @winson, are you in Hong Kong? that's a good joke by the way so don't worry about the self appointed hall monitor complaining. You might have been caught up in the Friday evening (UK time) routine shut down for a few hours for system updates.

    can anybody tells me if it is possible to overlay chards in order to do comparisons between two markets?

    Hi, not on the IG platform but as Kodiak points out you can on PRT or you can look at Tradingview.com where you can use the 'compare' tab to overlay another chart which changes the linear scale to percentage. See below the Dow overlayed on the Dax.

    What dashboard are you using as it looks good so far.

    Can you explain the setup if possible; thanks.

    Sure, it's does look good doesn't it, new site found just recently but it looks like some prices are delayed unless you sign up for a pay for package. Might go back to the IG platform and see if I can build something similar 🙂.

    The setup is as per this page;

    Must Day Trade?  No.  Can Day Trade.  I have the time and the will to Intraday Trade.  If i make £50 in 2 hours I'm done till the next day.  Or if i see a particular set up i will trade that too.  I will make some lose some.  So long as I am consistent with a 1:1 porift loss, I'm hoping to end up or even each week.

    Holding a Trade for Days or Weeks!!!...is not Day Trading, or Intraday Trading!  I am a Day trader.  All Trades will be closed by the End of the Day.

    My Target is to make £50 per day. or more specifically £200 per week.

    Quite correct, trendfollowing is more akin to investing than trading. Do take a look at the daytrading.com link a few posts up, it looks to be quite a good resource for all things day trading, even has a stocks section.

    Today I am trying the pivot points.  They look promising.

    It's important to experiment, different things for different markets, the reality is that a relatively small number of very large institutional traders move the market, if you are using something similar to them your indicator will suddenly magically work, until they go off to lunch or whatever 🙂.

    Pivots are one of the oldies handed down through generations of traders, they often work well in the more established main markets.

  11. Bit of a wild ride yesterday after the US open as Dow pushed through R1 and nearly got to R2 before returning all the way back to the pivot and beyond.

    On the European open today both Dax and Dow have found resistance mid way to R1 and are currently checking support. Waiting for the London open for direction this morning

    You're also forgetting that I have been live back in March and made wins and losses from £2 to £100 on several occasions with a £1400 account limit.  Yes, I left down £400.  :D

    All we're talking about here is Consistency and 1:1 ratio.  My trades are often more than 50% wins.

    Please discount my post last week with a considerable loss.  I have explained this loss in detail and my psychology at the time was well off.  I can't pretend I don't still have The Fear.

    The fear factor is understandable and is directly proportional to the degree of risk and will always be there so long as the risk factor is huge and that was my concern. One bad problem of demo is that you can't learn the psychological aspects of trading from it, far worse it actually encourages a gung ho attitude which usually leads to the rather quick death of a live account.

    On an educational note I found this web site a while back though haven't had the time to look at it depth it did look to have a lot of useful material covering a lot of ground.
