  1. With US stocks make sure:

You have the ' Dealing US shares form filled out' which can be found on the MyIG page by selecting Settings> Dealing US stocks.

You will also see (as mentioned above) that some US stocks have 'All sessions' trading meaning you can trade in the pre and post market whereas others do not. The normal US trading hours in UK time is 13:30-21:00 UK time. Please note this can change when the clocks change and when there are bank holidays.

trying to do the same pre-market. but I've been blocked as I'm trying to trade out of hours on a stock that they don't allow...turns out it's only a few chosen stocks listed here:

How to Trade Stocks After Hours | IG UK

    Thanks for your post.

You're right we only have a small group of 'All sessions stocks'. If you wanted to trade US stocks in the pre/ post market that aren't 'all sessions' you can over the phone but you have to pay the phone dealing charge rather then the normal spread/ commission.

Same thing happened to me. I booked a loss of over 50$.

My orders got closed only 2 seconds after I opened it without any reason.

I have the screenshots of it.

IG needs to reply to me otherwise I will have to go online and let everyone know. I had posted on Guaranteed stop page but they havent approved my post.

If you have a limited risk account and have to put guaranteed stops on your position, the market moves and hits your stop you will have to take on that loss and you have to pay the controlled risk premium (CRPREM).

If you check the stops you set and you don't think the loss is still justified please reach out to us so we can go through it.

    Hi

I'm having trouble understanding why, when I place two orders, I get a second order closed rather than triggered.

So I have enough in my account with plenty of leverage left to cover any major swing in price.

I start by placing an order 2 pips above the current price, for example, and then a 5 pip target with a high stop loss.
If the trade triggers and then goes in the opposite direction I then wish to recover some of that loss by placing a second trade 2 pips below the current price with a 5 pip target and high stop loss. Once the second trade is triggered, IG just kicks out both trades.

I'm lost as to why this is occurring as like I say, there is no issue with leverage or account balance.

    Hey,

Our working orders are force open (meaning we won't use a working order to close of an existing position.

If you're confused as to why a position was close please reach out to us via email/ call and we can look into this and explain it to you.

I can't give you the answer on community as it's specific to your account.

This doesn't really help that much because by that point you've already identified the stock in order to open it.

Try searching for an ETF using its symbol. You get a list of results and it's difficult to narrow down to the correct one.

    image.thumb.png.272fbe518d5ce5551f8c4c9571b4ad1c.png

TradingView is really popular and well loved and they use the Symbols first, then the name afterwards. Check how easy to use it is and bring a few of those UX aspects into IG please.

ProRealtime gives you the option to add tickers to the list/list and considering it's a IG lookthrough it's obviously there so it should'nt be too hard for IG to add it to the myIG platform, unless for commercial reasons they have chosen to avoid displaying it.

    My need to tickers are:

Reports/historical view of past trades that can be matched progrmatically in Excel.

Quick reference to other market makers correlations(is it uncommon to only trade on one platform?) I'd like to compare and research on IG to ensure the Pension Fund manager is not taking the ****

consistency in research as it's unknown which market is listed on what stock exchange? since IG is absent market fundimentals the need to confirm this externally becomes a lot easier - as mentioned above: The sea of ETF's

Thanks both, I will pass on your feedback to our platform team to see if these changes can be made.

    Hy Charlotte,

I am not sure if this is a glitch in the system, but I also have submitted all my documents and they were approved a week or so ago, however, my account is still yet to be activated. I have emailed the help desk but I’m still yet to receive a reply. The application said you’ll make contact when activation has been successful that hasn’t happen yet. I hope you’ll be able to help.

    Hi,

I received an email saying I had sold thousands of shares in Aston Martin and then purchased back hundreds, I'm unable to find any information about what is happening.

I assume there is some price consolidation or something however I am not being kept in the loop, people generally like to be kept in the loop when you automatically do things with money.

    Thanks

    Hey,

    Thanks for your first post.

We don't inform clients of stock consolidations/ splits because the outcome is the same. The stock will be consolidated and by the same about the price will be adjusted.

However, we've had some other community members asking about this so I will pass the feedback on that in the future can it be possible to send an email about stock splits/ consolidations.

    Details of the stock consolidation:

Please be informed that Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC will be having a Consolidation/Reverse stock split event on Monday 14/12/2020 at terms 1 for 20. As a result we will be doing all the necessary bookings pre market on the 14/12 for Leveraged and Non Leveraged accounts. All stops and limits will be amended accordingly and Working Orders deleted pre market as well.

    Hello everyone,

I just joined today and I'm looking for Blue Lagoon Resources  -  Ticker symbols - BLLG and BLAGF

Can someone help as they are not showing up at all.

    Thanks in advance

    Sue

    Hey Sue,

These two run on OTCMarkets and the Canadian exchange. We can't offer these exchanges on our nonleveraged accounts (share dealing) and the market cap is too small to offer on leveraged.

If you would like it on leverage let me know and I can see if the share desk can make an exception.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

That should not prevent IG to introduce a Junior ISA.
The account holder is usually a parent who is opening the account.

    Hey,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I will put forward that there is interest for Junior ISA accounts. It's not something we have ever offered but as I can see people are interested in I will put it through to the relevant team. We can't guarantee that this will become available though.

Spread betting accounts are only available for residents of the UK. If you don't live in the UK you will not be able to see the option to add a spread betting account.

if you are a resident of the UK please reach out to us so we can investigate.

I have opened a demo account and it has the standard 10k amount.

I’m planning on switching to a live trading account with 1k. This would mean switching from $10 a pip too $1 a pip trades.

I was wondering if it’s possible to first decrease the amount in my already existing demo account to 1k to get used to the smaller size.

    Hey,

Unfortunately the amount is set at 10K. What some people do is open and close really large positions to try and lose as much as they can then round it back up to 1K.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

The same problem with this for me too. There is no reason why this can't be much faster. It seems IG is holding onto the money to make use of it for a while which is very disappointing for me as my other investment systems do not do this.

    Hey,

    Thanks for your post.

We have no benefit from holding onto clients funds. The paypal and bank withdrawal are very fast. Also, card withdrawals take 2-4 working days but we send the funds our on the same day as you process the withdrawal (if not the following working day if made after midday). It's the process in between IG sending the money and your bank receiving it which takes that amount of time which we don't have control over.

    Hey everyone,

I'm new to trading - a colleague of mine introduced me to FX and babypips, and that's pretty much how I started. I've been winning and losing ever since I started 6 months ago. On my losing days it feels like I don't know a single thing about the market and on my winning days it's almost like as if I know what the market is going to do. Anyway, I've met a couple of traders who shared the same sentiments - that they would much rather spend their time on options or futures as they think that the FX market is heavily manipulated. Just want to see if there's anyone out here actually making a decent living out of day-trading with the FX market?

Thanks and have a good one :)

    Sincerely looking for hope,

Most of the time when I start a position, the marcket will act quickly against me a bit. Strange is it?

    Hey both,

The FX prices we use are taken from 12 currency providers. We pick the best bid and offer from both then wrap our spread around this.

FX is very fast pace and can be extremely volatile when market news comes out.

Can/should the account be used abroad in the case that one moves temporarily to a country where you already offer local accounts?

I am thinking about two scenarios:

    - I am abroad as a traveller for up to 90 days, ie. any country in the EU. And then I return to UK, where I am currently based. In this case I would continue using my UK account.

    - I move abroad permanently, but I am not a tax resident for the target country, ie. EU country, till I am there for longer than 6 months. Shall I keep using my UK account for up to 6 months and then switch to the EU country account? Otherwise if I switch straight away to the EU country account, I will have to declare tax to the UK with an account denominated in EUR, and based in Europe.

To me it makes sense to continue using the UK account till you become a tax resident in the country of destination, but who knows.

I would appreciate some light about the topic of moving abroad.

    Thanks,

    Nic

We advise you to let us know as soon as possible.

I asked our compliance team and:  Normally if they are moving we expect them to let us know and we would close, especially if you're going to the EU they will be closed on the 31st with Brexit .

    I hope this helps

    Thanks @CharlotteIG for your response.

I am fully aware of the commission as well as the exchange rate as posted in the screenshots above. I have gone through my statements and understand the breakdown.

My question is why my overall profits are so inflated / overstated on the IG screen? This is very mis-leading and causes clients to sell thinking they would get X amount of profit but actually they end up with only 40% of that. What is the reason behind the huge discrepancy?

I did e-mail so am waiting for a full response hopefully too.

    Hey @Gold_Coast

You're right if you have instant conversion rates on your trades and the profit is 40% different then there is a problem. I will speak to our client facing team and ask them to pick the email us as soon as possible. They will be able to take a deeper dive into what has happened.

I hope you get the outcome/ answers and it would be great if you could share them once you do.

Hi i'm quite new and i'm still learning all the basics, but i do have one stupid question. When you buy a share from this platform do you get paid dividend ? For example if i buy 1 share of EVRAZ  am i going to get any dividends and how does it work ?

If you're buying the shares on a share dealing/ ISA account you will receive the dividend is you hold the shares through the ex div date. For example, if the ex div date is 10th December, you would have to purchase and hold the shares from 9th of December over to 10th December. Your dividend would be credited 1-2 working days after the pay date.

If you're trading on a leveraged account (spread betting/ CFD) we make dividend adjustments which means you don't gain from the dividend.

The example below if for indices but the same principle applies for shares on leveraged accounts:

PropTech Acquisition Corporation (NASDAQ: PTAC), not able to find this particular SPAC to trade, any particular reason ?

    Hey,

I'm not sure if you asked for the stock to be added but 'PropTech Acquisition Corp' should be available for all of our platforms.

If you have an ISA account and you can't see it it might be best to email us and we can check with the shares desk if it can be added.

Strange that while this period of low productivity - one would think that this would be the ideal opportunity to improve systems, upgrade and and enhance. utilising new tooling like StreamDeck provides an edge. I too will be looking out for other opportunities if IG is unable to take advantage rather than make excuses.
