I have tried this both on mobile and web versions of the broker.
Even after filling in all details (in all possible combinations [quantity/value + Order level, for example]), there's no other option other than "Order type: Limit" and "Expiry: Day".
Is this because Markets are closed? If so, how can I create an order that will run first thing the next day when markets open?
Also, there are no other options other than what's in the screenshot. No "stop loss" or anything like that. Is this right? Am I using the right platform? There are a lot of features that seem to be missing.
Thank you,
Dear @NotSoAnonymous,
Please note that market orders are available during market open.
To place an order to a working order, you are better off placing a limit or stop order. Please also note that on share dealing accounts, some equities will not have the 'stop' order type option.
We have a lot of resources on order from our platform: Limit Orders and Stop Orders

Is there any way to change this? I want to have multiple working orders open that exceed my total margin.
I would like to enter the working orders that get triggered where I have margin for the position, while orders will not be entered if they are triggered and I have already utilised all my margin for open positions.
Dear @keroppi,
Unfortunately, there is no way to change this.
Thanks,

Hi. I just began trading options and I have a a question about options on gold.
So what is visible under Gold are the following time frames: Daily, Weekly, then Apr24, Jun24 and Aug24 .
Let's say I choose APR24 - I noticed that, just above all the strike prices, there are two dates : Apr24 followed by 25 Mar 24.
Then when I choose a strike price, to the right I see the options are on gold futures. And the expiry date is 25/3/24.What does that mean? The futures expire in April and the option itself expires in March? I choose the Option corresponding to APR24, so I would expect that April is the expiry month of the option.
Can anyone explain what the dates on the option window represent: Apr24 25Mar 24 ?
Thank you!
Dear @BogdanV,
Thank you for post.
Please note that commodity futures settle in the month previous to the named month (so Feb settles in Jan, Mar settles in Feb). Please note we are only reflecting the terms of the real market.
Options expiry is similar to futures contracts for commodities in that they all settle a few days/weeks before the start of the name month. This is due to the difference in 'the last trade date' and the 'delivery date' as if you were taking physical delivery of the commodity, it happens on the month itself but trading concludes in the month prior.
Please refer to the CME website for a list of expiries: Gold Options Calendar

Thanks,

Dear @Sartois,
Thank you for reaching out! It seems like the order type may be causing the rejections. To trade in the pre-market, make sure to select a Day (All sessions) expiry type.

Q1.So does this mean IG will be updating the platform to say £2,000,000 instead of £1,000,000 (see screenshot below) ?
Q2. So if the notional is actually £2,000,000, then does mean at the current prevailing price of Bitcoin of $65,000 approx, the max deal size is around $30 per point (i.e. 2,000,000 / 65,000) ?
Dear @123abc,
Thank you for your patience. Yes, the desk will ensure that these are changed to correctly reflect the updated limits.
Please also note that the limit is in GBP so it would be GBP30 pp for spread betting or the $ equivalent.
Thanks,

Dear @tonybyrne,
Thank you for reaching out and welcome to the IG community!
Just to clarify, are you asking about collateral services? Please note that we do not offer collateral services on smart portfolio accounts. This service is for professional clients when they are trading on leveraged accounts (spread bets and CFDs).
Thanks,

I notice that when I place limit orders they take up margin even though there is no position open.
Is there any way to get around that? I only want margin to be used once I have a position open.
The reason I ask is because I like to have many limit orders each taking up 50% or more of the margin of the account and when one limit order gets triggered I don't need to enter the the other remaining limit orders. Even if the other limit orders get triggered, they should not be entered into because I already used up my margin for the open position.
I use other CFD brokers that don't use any margin for their working orders.
Dear @keroppi,
Welcome to the IG community! We're glad to have you here.
Unfortunately, the working order will take up margin. This ensures you have enough margin to keep the position open once it triggers.
Thanks,

Hi
I have been told that if I tried through an ISA then I would not pay capital gains.
How do I set up an ISA on my Share Dealing account please.
Regards
Richard
Dear @Rstarkey,
Thank you for reaching out. Just a heads up, ISAs are not tax reportable, and we don't send out tax documents for them. If you have an existing IG account, head to the dashboard, click on 'add an account,' and choose ISA.

"There is a limit of £1,000,000 notional value per client across all cryptocurrencies.
Any client with a notional size above this limit is at risk of having their cryptocurrency positions reduced."
Dear IG,
Q1. At the current price of Bitcoin prevailing around $64,000 approx, does this mean I can only open a position of size around $1.5 per point? As the price of Bitcoin rises, and the notational becomes larger, will IG force close my position?
Q2. I would like to open a position at $5 per point in Bitcoin, will I be restricted even though if my account is sufficiency funded?
Q3. What is required to overcome any notional value limits, and how can I prevent my position from being force-closed ?
Dear @123abc,
Thank you for reaching out. Here are some important points to consider:
1. The maximum notional for long positions is GBP 500,000 across all crypto positions. To calculate the size, you can use the formula 500,000 = 63,920.20x. Approximately, x = GBP 7.8 per point (based on the price at the time of calculation).
2. Please be aware that GBP 5 per point is below the calculated amount mentioned above.
3. If you would like to increase your maximum exposure, please contact us so we can check with the desk.
Thanks,

Dear @Cristiano73,
Thank you for your post! We are thrilled to have you as part of our community.
Your question is a bit vague. Which list are you referring to? If you are talking about the economic calendar, please note that Eurozone inflation is included in the list.
Additionally, the 'Week Ahead' weekly blog lists all upcoming events so that clients are aware.

Can I ask if more equity options would be available to trading via the site, on the horizon?
Yes, I am referring to the spread bet account, where gains accumulated would not incur tax requirements or returns. 🙂
Dear @TradeSniper47,
Please note that more equity options might be introduced on the platform in future, based on demand.

Yes, I understand that the direct share holding is held in a separate account to the CFD account. If the only shareholding I had in my direct share account was CBA shares can I use the collateral value on that holding to purchase CFD's in CBA. Yes or No?
I am referring to the following link: My IG > Live Accounts > Set Up Collateral > See our collateral FAQ and examples > Shares List (half way down the page)
I have attached a snapshot of the link and the error message I receive when trying to open the link
Thanks.
Dear @gemtex,
Thank you for clarifying. Apologies for the inconvenience. Kindly try the following: Shares List

Thanks for the reply. I specifically want to know if the collateral of a direct share holding can be used to cover the margin requirements of a CFD in the same share.
Also, is there a list of Australian shares showing the current collateral value of each? The link provided on the Collateral page in MYIG does not open for me
Dear @gemtex,
Unfortunately, you cannot use a direct shareholding, but the value of your shareholdings.
Just to clarify, on My IG, are you trying to link your CFD account to your share dealing account?
