I'm concerned about the following statement...
"IG also reserves the right to terminate any CFD contract unilaterally if it considers that the conditions of the contract have been violated."
What does this above statement mean? I am concerned if IG reserves the right to force close a long-term profitable position.
Please note this goes back to the funds required to keep the position open, if your equity falls below your required margin, your position will be closed. Opening a position requires having enough margin to keep a position open.
Thanks,

I am at a loss to understand why IG Index would have stated they are going to take their old platform off line before ensuring the new one would do exactly what the old does.
I can see customers going to other platforms if they don't at least ensure the really great features on the old one aren't migrated over to the new one.
I implore you to please make your development team aware of potential ramifications of closing the old platform down before ensuring the new one does exactly the same features.
Dear @bulltraderpt,
No worries, we will relay the message. Please also reach out if you have any questions on how to navigate the new platform.
Thanks,

Greetings
Are their any developments on bringing more share option to IG?
We have a few in their such as Nvidia, AMD, Netflix, but very limited for professional and day option traders,
Would their be are their any more on the horizon?
In addition, can I get clarification that any gains earned is still under the tax free "gambling / speculation" wrapper ?
Dear @TradeSniper47,
Thank you for your post.
Please note that most equity options are traded over the phone when the underlying market is open. You can contact us during equity trading hours to be connected to a Sales Trader who will trade the equity options on your behalf.
Please note that with CFD accounts you are required to report your gains for tax purposes, but with spread betting, you can trade without paying capital gains tax or stamp duty.

Q1. If I open a long-term CFD position in a crypto, and ensure my account is sufficiently funded for any potential margin calls, can IG Swiss close my winning position if leave it open and running in profit for a year ?
Q2. What are my deal/contract rights on a crypto CFD for a long-term profitable open position ?
Dear @123abc,
Thank you for your post.
Please note that IG can only close your positions if:
- Your go-on margin call
- Your stop or limit was closed (this will be automatically closed by the system at the requested levels)
Please have a look at our customer agreements about margin trading from our website: Terms and Agreements, however, it is important that you monitor all of your positions closely. It is your responsibility to monitor your positions and during the period that you have any open Contracts or Transactions, you should always have the ability to access your accounts.

Dear @millennium_falcon,
Hey there! Thank you for reaching out. Just a heads-up, you can only have one API key for each environment, either live or demo. No third API key can be created.

Update: I was able to place limit order from my ISA account later that day from desktop browser.
Tips: When I used the app on my iPhone, the limit order worked every time I have tried, which is a relief.
Dear @HappyHermit,
Thank you for the update.
Have a lovely day ahead.

"stop must be at least 861.9 pts from the current market price." Why am i getting this message?
Dear @Thembouks,
Welcome to IG and thank you for your post.
This means that the stop was closer than the minimum required distance from the market. Please have a look at the minimum distance for the stop you are placing.

Yes, but when I buy a stock I do not pay the full price thus I do not own it?
(Moldova)
Yes, you won't own the stock and will need to put up a small portion of the notional value, known as the margin, to enter the position.

It is a real shame IG is decommissioning the old platform, as the ability to hear and see price changes over numerous companies is not available on the new platform.
One hopes, this feature will be added to the new platform before the plug is pulled on the old one given there is still a month to go..
Many thanks,
Peter
Dear @bulltraderpt,
Thank you for your valuable feedback! It has been forwarded to the teams in charge of the new platform.

Dear @jc67,
Welcome to the IG community! We're sorry to hear you're having trouble placing trades. I've checked the account linked to the email you used to register, and the last trade attempt was in 2023.
Please also note that we do not limit the number of times a client can email us, the correct email address to email is helpdesk.uk@ig.com
I've sent you a DM to discuss the account where you experienced the trade rejection. Please feel free to respond at your earliest convenience.

Hello IG community —
I sell options using IBKR for a living.
Someone said you can sell options using IG spread betting account and therefore making it tax free.I don't understand how it works.
Here is the TSLA options chain for an at the money put option. If I sell the 190 put option, how much premium am I getting paid for writing (selling) this put option?
Usually selling this option would pay the ask price price in premium.
So it might be $6.6/share so $660 in premium income.
I don't understand the per point or margin figures. Can someone help me understand how this works.
Rgs,Kev
Dear @kevnea,
Thank you for your post.
Please note that the 660 is the premium, please also consider the commission that will be paid and the number of lots you are buying as well.
Thanks,

Thanks @KoketsoIG, it seems IG is feeling the pressure hence all these instruments being discontinued. There comes a point when this will start to affect customer loyalty if IG continues to decommission instruments willy nilly and without any comms!
Dear @Ikechukwu,
Apologies for any inconvenience caused, however, we appreciate your feedback on this. We will also pass it on to the respective desks.

Is there any way on the platform to get around this so I can actually see that chart?
Dear @BoomBustInvest,
As an alternative, you can choose not to display the open positions on the chart by right-clicking > show and deselecting 'open positions'.

Thanks very much, @KoketsoIG. I hadn't discovered the drop down menus - it all makes much more sense now! It's odd about the E1 contracts - it must be a new change, because I'm in the UK and I currently hold some of the E1 positions that I opened a few weeks ago. Anyway, at least now I understand what's going on.
I'll try not to bother you with too many questions as I get used to the new platform!
Best wishes,
Cate
No worries, it's all a pleasure. Don't worry about bothering us; we are here for all your queries. 😊

Collateral for Pro clients
in IG Trading Support - Dealing Questions
Posted
Dear @gemtex,
Thank you for your post.
Yes, please note that you can use up to 95% of the value of your IG share trading account as margin for leveraged trades. You can only use your shareholdings to cover the initial margin on your CFDs. Any running losses will need to be covered by the available cash in your margined account.
Your shareholdings remain intact and retain their full value; you simply use a percentage of their worth as collateral to fund shorter-term trades. You'll need both an IG share trading account and a CFD account.
Thanks,
KoketsoIG
