Collateral for Pro clients
KoketsoIG replied to gemtex's question in IG Trading Support - Dealing Questions
Dear @gemtex, Thank you for your post. Yes, please note that you can use up to 95% of the value of your IG share trading account as margin for leveraged trades. You can only use your shareholdings to cover the initial margin on your CFDs. Any running losses will need to be covered by the available cash in your margined account. Your shareholdings remain intact and retain their full value; you simply use a percentage of their worth as collateral to fund shorter-term trades. You'll need both an IG share trading account and a CFD account. Thanks, KoketsoIG -
Can IG Swiss force close my winning position ?
KoketsoIG replied to 123abc's question in IG Trading Support - Dealing Questions
@123abc, Please note this goes back to the funds required to keep the position open, if your equity falls below your required margin, your position will be closed. Opening a position requires having enough margin to keep a position open. Thanks, KoketsoIG -
Dear @bulltraderpt, No worries, we will relay the message. Please also reach out if you have any questions on how to navigate the new platform. Thanks, KoketsoIG

Dear @TradeSniper47, Thank you for your post. Please note that most equity options are traded over the phone when the underlying market is open. You can contact us during equity trading hours to be connected to a Sales Trader who will trade the equity options on your behalf. Please note that with CFD accounts you are required to report your gains for tax purposes, but with spread betting, you can trade without paying capital gains tax or stamp duty. Thanks, KoketsoIG

The Week Ahead Read about upcoming market-moving events and plan your trading week Week commencing 26 February Chris Beauchamp's insight The second estimate of US quarter four (Q4) gross domestic product (GDP) growth, the Federal Reserve's (Fed’s) preferred PCE inflation gauge and Germany’s consumer price inflation (CPI) are the main economic events to watch for this week.
