  1. no, I was referring to your first live account, it's the constantly revised history I find difficult to follow.
  2. Hi, the converter tool is in the 'My IG' page > Live Accounts overview, see pic.
  3. oh ok, how much was it on the live account that was making you throw up, just curious.
  4. @nit2wynit, actually you put us on trial when you said you only started losing when you started taking advice from other forum users. You were losing money when you came onto the forum as your early posts show, you told us that you were literally throwing up because of the anxiety caused by the size of risk you were taking on with a such a small account (£170/point) and the advice was don't bet so big, simple so far but not the solution you were looking for as the goal was to learn how to earn a living trading off a small account there and then before you blew the account. And then your account blew up. That's more or less it.
  5. Everyone seems to be going vertical screens lately, the problem of course is have you got enough?
  6. err, hate to be the one to remind you but when you joined the forum back in April this was the sort of stuff you were posting, losing all the time, that's why people started offering advice in the first place.
  7. the margin and the leverage are the same thing just looked at from different ends, the margin is the fraction of the trades total value that you need to put up to open the trade. so margin to leverage is just % converted to a ratio, 10% margin is leverage of 1:10, 5% margin is leverage of 1:20 and 2% margin is leverage of 1:50. so to go from 1:50 to 1:20 instead of needing to put up 2% of the total you now need to put up 5%. if the trade goes against you and losses start to eat into the margin requirement you will receive a 'margin call' and you will need to either close the trade or add funds, if you do neither the trade will be shut down for you. You can calc the margin requirement yourself but it's calculated differently for different markets, there is an IG page on this but I can't find it, perhaps @JamesIG, can check as the page linked below has a link to 'how margin is calculated' but the link just takes you back to the top of the same page. https://www.ig.com/uk/charges/margin#
  8. Pause candle for Dow yesterday, still at recent range high so anticipating a test of Friday's high 26550 otherwise will need to find support. Ftse caught up with the others yesterday and sits at recent resistance while Dax hangs onto the small gain it made on Friday. S&P sits just below range high needs a spur for one direction or the other, must be about time for a Trump tweet.
  9. USD up, Asian indices down Bonds down, Oil up Gold down. Chart USD. High impact today Lagarde speaks at 8am, US manu PMI 3pm.
  10. Hi, commissions are charged for share trading, all forex is by leveraged cfd's and instead of commission you pay the spread. see link; https://www.ig.com/au/cfd-trading/charges-and-margins
  11. This video of the Deutsche Bank chief economist on a no deal brexit was doing the rounds yesterday buy can't find the actual vid address now.
  12. Time is ticking, can you answer any of these questions at all yet?
  13. Hi, I can't think what it might be, if the majors were cutting out throughout the day there should be a hue and cry from dozens on the forum here, I can only suggest to make a note of the times and name and use the chat on the 'contact us' page to query and they should be able to arrange someone from tech to get in touch.
  14. how simple would the rules need to be before you would actually obey them? I mean for the above system you need only look at the chart once a day after market close and see if 2 lines had crossed sheeez, you must have noticed you are up and down like a yoyo, throughout the day it's 'go long', 'no go short', 'no long' and that's on a daily chart lol.
  15. Hi, can't find any problem with the alert, try testing on a 1 min chart without the changes to the default settings and without the added rsi shaded areas, just period 5 crossing 50.
  16. Hi, if you right click on the chart and click 'export chart' it puts a copy in your download folder without any personal data for you to post.
  17. Interesting simple ma crossover strategy beats 'buy and hold' on back test. http://www.newtraderu.com/2019/09/02/a-simple-trend-following-system/
  18. Following on from this morning's post Dax took out 11989 and just missed R2 before falling back to R1. Dow made a stab for R1 but missed though remains above the pivot, US market closed today so may be a quite afternoon ahead.
  19. IGSquawk GBPUSD options for 01 NOV 1(day after Brexit deadline) are now live. Prices currently implying 600 pt move.
  20. Hi the FX markets should be open from 9pm Sunday (UK time) right through to 10pm Friday, which platform are you having the problem with and what type of device? If you are using a mobile could it be a connection problem?
  21. yes the pound is suffering as a no deal Brexit looks increasingly likely and could yet retest the lows that came after the referendum back in 2016 (when everyone thought Brexit meant no deal anyway). We have the quarterly UK inflation report this Wednesday should be interesting though it's been fairly low and steady around 2% for this year so far.
  22. good point, I was thinking of FX for some reason, Tradingview use Oanda data for their fx charts, but even on the free Tradingview version you can pull up different exchange charts for stocks, see pic.
  23. Top tech companies over the last 23 years infovid;
  24. yes, out of sync with the other indices so gbpusd must be tanking again.
