IG WHERE IS THE DIVIDENDS DRIP program that is such a deal breaker. Could you please sort this out or I’m to change my money to other broker

    Hey,

I will be contacting our corporate actions team about who can push this. I think it's a great idea that a lot of clients want. I will update on this stream.

Apologies for the delay in this project.

    Thanks

Can we have the option to sort by Change and %Change as per the attached screenshot. We can already sort by the Name (A-Z, Z-A) or by Most Popular. Percentage movers on is great for trade ideas. It's a basic feature and would be very helpful.

    Hi everyone

    Good morning.

I was wondering whether a demo account should replicate the performance of a live account? What I mean is: Shouldn't trades made on a demo account perform in exactly the same manner as on a live account? Or are there cases when this is not the case?

    Hey,

The demo leveraged account will work in the same way however there are some issues on the demo account because we test on there to make sure the live account runs as smoothly as possible.

Unfortunately, as mentioned before, we don't offer demo for portfolios but you can find the performance information here. Say you wanted to see the data back from 31st July 2014, you can go back and see the performance since that time: https://www.ig.com/uk/investments/smart-portfolios/performance

One of the "bugs" is: If you order a position during "Not open market hours" and the price jumps on market open:

-On the Demo account it will open at the price you've ordered on market opening --> as low as you want above the close price of yesterday's for a long position.

-On the real account it will open at the market price on market open.

Thanks for your post. I will get this looked into so going forward this does not happen.

Ive been with IG for many years and whilst sceptical, and wary of the many bad vibes and rumours that come IG,s way  I have up till now  fended them off.

However, I have to say that a recent couple of trades stopped out by large spikes have questioned my loyalty.

GBPUSD was stopped out 19/11,  22.43 at 12938 ? 8 pips above charted price ??

USDCAD was stopped out on 18/11 22.05 at 13227, the highest price by any other broker platform was 13216 ?? 10 pips above !!

I have emailed IG, but not heard a thing.  I think I am beginning to share most peoples views over this broker

    Thanks for your feedback message.

When closing a short position you have to check the Ask price. I can see that GBPUSD did go up to 12938. We price FX using twelve currency providers and pick the best bid and ask at the time. At the moment GBPUSD is quite volatile due to market news. We keep our spread charges fixed but if the underlying widens then so will the price.

    image.png

With the USDCAD postition I can see the high at 22:05 as 13269.2. (using the Ask price, so considering you were closing a short position).

    image.png

I've checked with our desk and these were legitimate prices. I wouldn't be able to comment on how other brokers price their markets buy you find information on the Forex liquidity providers we use. We are a regulated company that follow the underlying market with spread and we make our money from the spread alone. We would not benefit from moving prices to stop clients out.

Do you mind emailing us again at helpdesk.uk@ig.com and make sure it's from your email address registered with IG. Please also feel free to give us a call about this to discuss in more details.

    Hi There,

I placed a number of orders for a specific US share last night which technically should have been filled, however after logging in to confirm the orders I had place filled overnight (Australian time) the orders had vanished and it was if I never placed an order.

Prior to logging out of the platform after placing an order I could see all my working orders and my remaining account balance obviously reflected the money sitting in the open orders.

It would be sincerely appreciated if someone could advise why my orders vanished.

    Many thanks in advance

Hey @xXUnderToesXx, thanks for your message and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Order can reject for a number of reasons and the rejection may be different for leveraged or non-leveraged accounts. The best thing to do would be to contact our help desk because they will be able to check the rejection for the working order.

    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  6. @ben91, I hope you're well.

After speaking with our corporate actions team they said that the conditions of the takeover was cash for any SodaStream shareholders. This amount is still pending. Once the company announce how much they're giving to shareholders and distribute the funds to IG we will be able to remove the shares for your portfolio and allocate the funds.

We do apologise for the delay but IG are not able to do anything until the company announce and pay us.

    All the best :)

Hey, thanks for your feedback message.

We don't offer seminars/ webinars on APIs but it's something I can ask the technical team to offer for the future.

If you are struggling with IG API there's a great community for API questions that you may find useful:

Hello everyone I need help with this topic pleas … im new to trading stocks.. im young and hungry for success

I need to know is there any limit on the number of trades that I make per day/week if lets say I got a 1000-2000$ account

and is there any limit on how many times I can trade the same stock on the same day/hour ?

does "pattern day trader" rule apply to me here? if so , how many trades i can make per day including closing investment

thank you I would appreciate the help :)

    Hey,

We do not restrict clients on how much they trade per day. We have some clients who use scalping as their trading strategy and we have no issues with this.

    Happy trading :)

For this case, you should be able to write a stop limit instead of stop. I.e set the stop value to 50 and limit to 45 so your order will be executed only if the price is below 50 and above 45.

The problem( very unprofessional and amateurish) with IG is that they only offer sell Limit day during market closure and your order will anyhow get executed regards of market price as IG will pick the best price for you. Thats so lame!

This is something that could definitely be taken on as feedback.

I will speak with our non-leveraged platform development team and see what can be done.

Thank you for posting this, I will keep this forum updated.

    Hi

I bought PUT options for $320 and the current price is showing $305.

Does that mean I am in profit or loss?

Hey @FRC- thanks for your feedback message.

I can see why this can be a little confusing. When buying a put you want the underlying market price to go down. However, the option is priced depending on how likely is to settle below the strike price. If it's very likely the option will be priced high, if it's not likely then the price of the option will be lower.

If the price at which you bought the put option is higher than what the put option sell price is at now it's not good for your position, it's more than likely that the underlying market price has increased. If you were to close the option out at $305 it means you would lose ($320 - $305) x size.

If the underlying market price has moved down you should see that the option price normally moved up because it's more likely that at expiry the market price will settle below your strike price.

So to clarify can we set stops on share trades yet?

It is so unprofessional that IG doesn't provide stop loss for share trading account in Australia!!!

    Hey guys,

A stop order works the same as a stop however because you're selling real shares we can't guarantee the level we sell all your shares at.

    image.png

If we take the ticket above as an example, the price is at 172.6/ 172.66. If you wanted your shares to be sold when the price drops down to 160 you would put stop market day(for the day) or GTC(good for 90 days).

The only issue is, say you wanted to sell shares but only 50 are a 160 then the market continues to drop the next 50 will be filled at the next best price (but the next best price is lower 159.9).

Hi all how do I sell a portion of my position when in profit.

Would I need to have more than one contract in FX.

    Cheers in advance

Hey @UPSHOT, thanks for your first post!

The position size, if you wish to close half would need to be at least double to minimum bet size.

For example, if you wanted to do this for GBP/USD you would have to open 2 contracts. From there you will then be able to closed out one by using trading the opposite way and selecting 'net off' on the deal ticket.

Also, if you opened a position and once you were in profit you decided you wanted a limit on half and leave the other half running you can call us and we will split your position into 2 for you. From there you can add stops and limits.

Thanks, if you need me '@' me in the post :)

If you're looking for help with APIs it may be best to go to the community on our Labs pages. Below is the link to posts relating to Lightstreamer.

However, they may be someone here who has has the same issues.

  16. @cryptotrader & @nicks, thanks for your posts.

After speaking with someone in our technical team they they said that if you're using FireFox there are issues blocking data from updating. The best browser to use is Chrome or at least try it to see how it works.

If you do like using FireFox you can have a look at the add ons that you have installed and disable some of them to see if one of them is blocking the data. Also make sure your Firefox is updated to the latest version.

Someone has brought up this issue when using FireFox. The incident number if you need it is INC0378846.

If this is happening on another browser, let me know.

Thanks and apologies for the inconvenience.

Good man @dmedin. Live or demo?

    How's @nit2wynit doing?

From next week I'm gonna jump back into the small account challenge on Demo again. Not worth doing it here in SEA, cause US market open is too late. Not having the head to trade at like 21.30 at night.

Think my plan is gonna be to grow to £1000 with the initial £500, then try the same on live.
If it's not working out, might switch solely to long term investing, trend following, buying the dip in blue-chips, etc.
Smaller returns, but at least not losing cash like in day trading, haha

    Looking forward to your finding.

    Keep us updated @DSchenk 😁

If this happens would you be able to send a screenshot, that will help when I go to our tech team.

The futures markets we offer are the underlying market price with IG spread wrapped around it. Do you mind giving me an example so I can explain how it's prices.

Your account value will be your funds minus any margin plus/ minus your profit/ loss.

Please give me some clarification and I will be happy to go over this :)
